Moto Guzzi

I had hoped the latest update would fix the problem various (mainly iPhone?) users like me seem to experience. I for one still can’t get the app to let me sign in. I have written to Guzzi customer services who redirected me to the App team who just aren’t responding to emails, yet Guzzi charge nearly £200 for the MIA connectivity which can’t work without the App - is that breach of contract?

App is simple and easy to use. Navigation pictograms not converted for UK Roads so says first exit at roundabout but shows third exit in pictogram which it would be Italy!

Once the navigation is up it seems to work okay, however the navigation needs to be improved massively 1 most maps let you plot with steps or waypoints 2 it would be extremely useful to drop a point on the map if you don’t know the address etc 3 selecting categories like petrol stations, car parks, restaurants etc or favourites. Please update these functions ASAP.

App goes round in loops with iPhone. Register bike and add to garage then it seems to want you to add a vehicle to get it to link with Bluetooth. IPhone hates to connect to Mandello v100s so it’s either the app or the bike. Sounds a great app/idea in principle but you should get it to actually work easily. It doesn’t so it’s a wasted chance. Please sort it and don’t be lazy.

Really disappointing, get some new developers

Looking forward to Moto Guzzi’s app developer to issue an update so that the App connects to the bike, and that the Navigator works again. It’s a shame the App does not currently allow management of Piaggio alarm. Let’s hope Moto Guzzi releases an App update soon.

Paid £163 to have the MIA module fitted, the navigation seems to work ONCE you finally get connected but when you try to add a paired device, the app CRASHES EVERY TIME. Absolute rubbish, don’t waste your time or money on this junk. As an extra, just changed to a newer iPhone, this app is still appalling, Guzzi, fix it please, everyone else, don’t waste your money on the Mia device

Initial setup is Easy enough but after that it’s a lesson in frustration. In particular the device management feature crashes every time I try to setup and connect to helmet intercoms. As a result a significant feature of the app and the Guzzi MIA interface is not available. Update needed urgently as at 24/7/2019. Supplementary....I eventually managed to get the system working by renaming my iPhone to a single word and removing punctuation (it was Austin’s iPhone; now it’s just Austin). Doing this then deleting all bluetooth pairings from my phone, our helmet’s headsets and the bike and after a few goes everything paired more easily. BUT using the app/MIA as your intercom hub means you lose loads of the features built into headsets like Sena and we both got high pitched interference from the bike so still not good. Plus navigation and voice instructions don’t work as expected with two helmets connected. You might expect that both helmets would get the instructions or the headset connection would be interrupted and just the rider would get the instructions but no, nothing works. The first time the Nav needs to voice an instruction the intercom connection is dropped between rider and pillion but no voice instructions get broadcast and the rider pillion connection is not then reestablished. (Google maps and other phone based navigators manage fine broadcasting the instructions to the rider as if a phone call so overriding everything else going with Bluetooth). The app also becomes unresponsive to handlebar inputs and the Nav screen on the dashboard freezes. With just a rider everything was fine though. I haven’t tried music yet but based on past performance it’s not going to be good. I have lowered my rating to one star?

The problem with this app is whilst it may be free you have to pay £130 for the MIA kit that fits on the bike. The app is confusing and the “manual” is of little help. I had to delete and re-enter my bike three times before I got things to work (it doesn’t help that the new vehicle entry is the first option even after you have registered your bike). The connection regularly drops out after a few minutes, so only one of my last three journeys has actually input any data. Unlike apps like CarPlay the satnav has to be running on the screen of your phone when connected by Bluetooth and as soon as the screen switches off to leave the satnav running in the background the directions drop off the bike console and a message tells you navigation is not available. So far a rather expensive white elephant. I should have stuck with my iPhone and ram mount.

Overall a great app, the navigation is particularly good. One major problem is it keeps crashing when trying to connect to the Sena headset. Tried 2 iPhones and reset everything - just crashes.
