Movie slates are used to display useful info to the video editor and allow the editor to sync audio and video.
This is a SUPER simple movie slate app. It's not fancy, but it does the job. Just type in the information, show it to the camera and hit "clap". A red flash will appear and a clap sound will play. From there you should be able to sync your audio and video in post just as you would with any other movie slate.
