Description

Muse is a canvas for thinking that helps you get clarity on things that matter. Think in private or collaborate with others.
BEYOND WHITEBOARDS
with nested boards
Each Muse board is like a whiteboard that can hold even more whiteboards. Your boards grow organically over time as you develop an idea. Stay in the ideation flow, worry about organizing later.
REFERENCE & REMIX
with linked cards & excerpts
Linked cards let you reference boards from multiple places. And excerpts let you remix parts of PDFs and images without losing the context of the source. Grow your Muse into a space of interconnected whiteboards.
ONE CANVAS FOR ANYTHING
with ink + text + cards
Developing an idea starts with collecting inspiration and stray thoughts. Muse lets you put everything on a single canvas: writing, scribbles, notes, images, videos, PDFs, web links, and any other files. Lay out all the raw materials, then connect the dots with ease.
COLLABORATION
with shared workspaces
Add collaborators to a Muse workspace to plan and strategize together. They'll feel right at home with live cursors, comments, following, and templates.

Muse Reviews

Extremely limited zoom

Sehaido on

I exported a PDF from Cardfile+ and the operation was seamless. My problem is I need a magnifying glass to read anything, except my title cards. This program has excellent example files included to help you get started, but most of this information cannot be zoomed large enough to be read. I think I would like this better than cardfile+ if the zoom feature was not so severely throttled. As it stands this program is worthless

Nice app but doesn’t check all boxes for me

I’m trying to be “pen first for note taking and that doesn’t work great with Muse. Implementing the official Apple ink integration and gestures would go a long way to improving the usability. Searching within a PDF would also be a huge improvement.

Apple Pencil?

Must have app

Muse has become a critical app for my professional work flow and personal projects. No other app facilitates brainstorming and ideas quite the same way. The UX/UI is refined, intuitive, and so good I find myself trying Muse gestures in other apps wishing they worked there! The ability to bring content in, link content, write, ink, draw, and then organize all those thoughts is a remarkable facilitator to deep thinking that results in real creativity. This is an app I can’t live without!

Tried using it 2 different times on my iPad. Each time I had issues with the Apple Pencil and the app froze.

Use every single day

I use this app for just about everything when I plan. I’m a PM and it’s great to have separate boards that I can quickly access for on the go notes. Love the feature to share from all sources and can drop on the appropriate board. New changes are mostly nice, I like the quick templates. I do wish they would bring back pinch to exit. I frequently have a pen in my hand so the three finger swipe isn’t great. There is the new file path at the top you can click on but I still find the pinch quicker, maybe at least have that as a navigation setting so people can choose?

Muse changes the game

Muse is one of the most thoughtful, innovative iPad apps to come out for the iPad, ever. It’s beautifully designed, with great care taken to keep you in the flow of work. Muse is an indispensable tool for every iPad owner trying to do creative thinking.

The best tool of its kind

Michael Olmsted on

The perceived simplicity of this app is a testament to the care that the team put into designing a UX flow that mirrors such a fundamental flow of the brainstorming process. There is some room for additional polish to feel more like a native Mac app, but the feel of the UX flow has clearly been heavily refined.

Great app and Some suggestions

The app has been my go-to choice for making mindmaps. However, I think some features are missing which can improve the overall user experience. 1. The eraser size is too large and nonadjustable at the moment, which makes precise erasing difficult. It would be nice to make the eraser size adjustable, and also add the functionality to erase a stroke instead of a point. 2. It would be nice to be able to zoom in/out a board without exiting to the parent board view. 3. It would be nice to have more color choices for the pen and also more variety. Thanks for reading the review and look forward to hearing back about the updates!

Superbly crafted tool for non-linear thinking

Luke Abbott on

Clearly built by a team that puts a lot of care into how they design and build software. Takes some getting used to, but it's not that big of a learning curve as it's a relatively simple (but polished) tool. The "limitations" (such as fixed zoom levels, non-infinite canvas, single pen tool) are actually thoughtful restrictions that help you get more out of the tool, something I only came to appreciate after trying other infinite-canvas thought tools for awhile. Seamless syncing between iPad and Mac. I haven't reached the limits of the free plan yet but when I do I'm sure I'll be happy to subscribe. Well-crafted software takes *ages* to develop, folks, and the work never ends—don't knock the subscription model, because it makes this product sustainable and far less likely to be abandoned, and the team gets to focus on supporting their existing users versus constantly having to seek out new customers to make payroll. Looking forward to seeing where the team goes with Muse next!
