Description

My First Nest Egg is the convenient and fun chore, allowance, and financial education solution to give young children healthy money habits in a cashless world.
Developed by two moms looking for a solution for their own children, My First Nest Egg helps busy parents who want to track money, allowance, and chores, while giving their kids a financial education.
With features such as a virtual wallet to track allowance, gamified chore puzzles to encourage earning, a daily financial lesson to teach financial literacy, and credit score game to teach the basics of the credit system, My First Nest Egg is what every family needs to help them raise money smart kids.
Money habits are set by age 7. My First Nest Egg gives parents the tools they need to grow their kids into successful adults. The creators are two moms who spent hundreds of hours consulting with behavioral and psychological experts about how to instill necessary life skills in children. Using what they learned, they built this platform for other families searching for an age-appropriate solution to teach financial literacy. My First Nest Egg helps you get your kids to make their beds, put on their own shoes, get in the car on time…and learn that compound interest can make or break financial success.
How: My First Nest Egg uses science to build good habits in little kids at a crucial time when life habits are being formed. Little kids are like sponges - they soak up every lesson you intentionally, and more importantly, unintentionally, teach them. My First Nest Egg ensures that your lessons around money and effort are intentional. With this App you can teach a child as young as 3 that effort results in a reward.
Virtual Wallet:
Little kids don’t need real money! They lose cash and parents just end up buying the things they want for them on their accounts online or in stores. My First Nest Egg offers an easy way for parents to track children’s virtual funds in three accounts: Save, Spend and Give. When your child wants something, you simply buy it and deduct the amount from their account. Because we don’t handle any real money, parents can sign-up for the App with just a name and email address. We don’t need your social security number or bank account information.
Earning is Fun:
My First Nest Egg employs a patent-pending puzzle system to teach kids delayed gratification. Instead of a boring chart, a child’s goal is put into a puzzle which is then broken into a number of developmentally appropriate pieces, and the child earns that goal piece by piece. The child receives the affirming instant gratification with each piece, but learns delayed gratification by waiting for their prize (either a reward or allowance) until the puzzle is completed. Choose a preset puzzle informed by an expert in childhood behavioral wellness and development, or create your own custom puzzle. They’re easy for the parents and fun for the kids. You can do everything from potty training to distributing allowance.
Community Motivation:
Achievement and depression are inversely related. Kids NEED to achieve and My First Nest Egg gives them that opportunity and then recognizes them for those accomplishments. My First Nest Egg has a community page with monthly leaderboards which track Achievements, Acts of Kindness, and Instances of Saving (not how much, how often). Kids can be inspired by other kids working towards the same lifelong habits. Parents can give their kids nicknames for the leaderboard, we use emojis instead of photos, and you will be asked if you want to opt-into the board.
Daily Financial Lesson:
Every day there is a new, fun, financial lesson built into the app. Kids build their financial vocabulary and knowledge of how money works in the real world.
Credit Score Game:
Kids learn the basics of how the credit system works by building, and maintaining, their own in-app credit score.

"Great Concept!"

The concept is great. It’s an excellent way to teach kids about money management. The only improvement I’d suggest is more customization options for rewards.

Great App, Minor Glitches

This app is fantastic for teaching children about savings and finance. However, we’ve encountered a few minor glitches. Despite that, it’s still very useful and educational.

Very Helpful but Needs More Features

MY FIRST NEST EGG is a very helpful app for teaching kids about money management. My kids enjoy the games and have learned a lot about saving and budgeting. The app is easy to use and has a good reward system. However, I wish there were more customization options for rewards and more interactive features. Despite this, the app is still very effective and educational. It has helped my kids develop better financial habits and understand the value of money. I would recommend it to other parents looking for a fun and educational financial app for their kids.

How did someone not think of this puzzle idea before?? Chore charts are boring. Chore puzzles are fun.

Favorite tool for chores

I’ve tried so many apps for household management. Most were so manual that I gave up. Love this app so much. The chore puzzles are so easy to use. All 3 of my kids love it. My oldest is 14 and she loves it too! Any small habit we are trying to enforce gets popped into this app.

WASTED 2 HRS FOR NOTHING

I just spent the last 2 hours trying to set this thing up. Between the glitches and lack of necessary features and abundance of unnecessary features, I'm just really angry now. I have 3 children, I wanted to make each of them a daily, weekly, & monthly chore checklist. I forgot to include something on one of their lists, it took me forever to figure out how to add a chore. I've tried to delete 2 of the chore lists over & over to no avail, not even when I restart the app. says it's deleted, but it's always still there. Best part? When I go in to see what it looks like on my kids' end, ITS BASICALLY USELESS. the lists are smashed and some words can't be seen, and there's no checklist for them to look at anywhere. If they want to see what they have to do today or this week, they have to click on the puzzle and then scroll through and try to read and figure out what needs to be done. every single time they would log into the app they would have to switch to the chore screen and then select the chore list and then scroll through the overcrowded list with lines overlapping each other, looking for what they need to do. they would have to do that every time and separately for each list into the daily list scroll up and down multiple times, into the weekly list, scroll up and down multiple times, into the monthly list, scroll up and down multiple times… If my kids were that self motivated I wouldn't need an app in the first place. There should be way to easily edit the chore lists. There should be a way to assign one list to multiple kids. There should be an easy way to reward individual tasks rather than just when they are all completed, there should absolutely be somewhere in the kids side where they can just easily see the checklists of chores, and in 2024 there's no reason why some of the words in a list should be getting cut off or overlapped. You don't give the same amount of space for every line, you have it so that the line adjusts in size to accommodate what is written there. If not, give a character limit so I know I can't list the individual steps of some chores because they're not gonna be able to see it anyway. two freaking hours of my life I spent trying to set this up just to find out it's basically useless.

Just not user friendly enough for me

I was excited to use this app for my 8 yr old but within the last 24 hours from download I have determined this app will waste my time instead of helping us manage it and money. The chore puzzle is a WONDERFUL IDEA, but the functionality needs a lot of help. You have to have even, not odd numbers of chores or routine steps, because they don’t have odd numbers in the app. Then if you make a mistake you have delete and do it all over again. That’s not a fast set up for busy single parents like me. I need to get in there and quickly duplicate a puzzle that’s customized to the routine my child does regardless of how many that day or time of day. Then add it to a weekly calendar so we have structured chores and routines for each day of the week. I will have to go with an app that’s less fun for my child’s goals but that is functional according to a calendar. In essence giving a child the ability to learn all important, goal settings chores/routine completion, time and money management

Not for Littles

I wanted to like this app, especially since it’s marketed for those under 6. But there’s no supports for pre or emergent readers. Moreover, the app itself isn’t super user friendly and there’s no time of day settings. (I.e. a task for teeth brushing but for a task rabbit kiddo, they want to check it off right away. I need two of those - one in the morning and one at night. There’s no way to do that and set reminders. At this point, idk what I’m enabling for notifications. I love the financial literacy component, but emergent readers need someone to read and guide them through these lessons.

Love this app!

Super easy to use and fun for the kids. It’s got them begging to pick up more chores and of course, i’m loving it! I’m also happy it provides them some financial education as well. Would definitely recommend trying it out
