Pick up Jonathan Blows “The Witness” instead. see YouTube reviews, it’s on most platforms.

THIS INPUT NAVIGATION MESS:
Wrist fatigue from the horrible implementation of “one touch” navigation. This isn't an action game; a simple tap for movement to destination should suffice.
❌*VERY BAD* navigation.
❌carpal tunnel & wrist issue invitation design.
❌forcing players to *hold* their finger on the screen, for *entirety* of the move duration. (How did this pass q&a testing?)
—————————————————————
LACKS BASICS OF MOBILE DESIGN FOR SLOW PACED GAMES:
A simple tap-to-move is best for these types of games. Jonathan Blow (developer of Braid) already figured this out for you in the game "The Witness" on iOS (and many 3D, first person puzzle titles.. see Dracula 4)
Dual stick isn't the solution - this isn’t an action game, dual stick just introduces more fatigue and wrist issue invitations. How so?
iPhone hand ergonomics is not tailored like game controllers - your design invites heavy stress on joints & wrist flexors. Holding that finger out there and keeping it on the screen for the entire movement animation?
In action games your fingers & thumbs move around more, (not static) thus releasing the built up tension around the wrists from static holding of device, this game however… is a slow game barely any constant jostling of thumb & finger movement.. and so,
like sitting down all day on a chair, back issues arise, because of the built up tension (from no movement) you just sat there and let it build.
That’s exactly what one touch design invites to the wrist. You add this to the fact, iPhone is not ergonomically designed for long gaming periods.. AND… your game lacks the finger & thumb movement ratio to release the tension.. then..
Hello wrist I’m carpal tunnel, how are you today?

NOT LISTENING TO THEIR REVIEWS:
Most of your recent reviews (as of July 2024) highlight how bad “one touch navigation” is.. and you guys still haven’t fixed it?
Great game. Fun and challenging while it lasts.
Controls were a little clunky but perfectly adequate enough to complete the game without much frustration. I had a great time. It’s a bit short and could probably be a little more difficult, but it’s fun and satisfying while it lasts.
I’d never played it before, so it was cool they brought it to iOS. I hope they do a similar remake of the sequel as well.
Pls read
So when I downloaded this I thought it would be fun because I love escape rooms and puzzle but when I joined I explored and
Loved the start and when I got to play I did do something’s but honestly it’s hard and boring and not fit for the phone or mobile to be honest k think you can fix it I like how you make it challenging but I have a suggestion that you can add hints and make it more fun thank you for reading❤️💖🫶🏻😄
Will come back
Hello! I haven’t actually played this yet but I had to download because my name is Myst. I’ll come back and do an update after I play. I hope it’s as amazing as me 🤣
A reasonably good mobile version of Myst
This is the latest mobile version of Myst, more recent than realMyst. You can play the Myst island portion for free and then pay $15 to unlock the other ages. I played the entire island, unlocking all of the linking books to other ages but not visiting any of them.
Being on a mobile device, this version of Myst is a bit different and there are some difficulties with moving and manipulating objects, but for the most part it works pretty well. I would have very much, however, liked an explanation of how the interface works. Figuring it out through trial and error was not the most enjoyable experience.
They’ve simplified some of the puzzles to accommodate the interface, for instance you no longer need the match to light the fire under the boiler for the tree. And the switches for the sunken ship are now much more obvious than the red/green in the original game. The spaceship keyboard puzzle is just as annoying as it’s always been, but I was eventually able to complete it successfully. I chose the puzzle randomization option, and some of the randomly chosen solutions were absurdly easy to solve. For instance inside the clock tower all I had to do was pull one lever once and it moved to the solution.
The graphics are good. They’re definitely better than the original game. The sound is good. The island still feels like it did in the original. The “movie“ scenes with the characters have been replaced with CGI. There is 3-D movement and viewing.
This game taxes the resources of my device at the highest graphics settings. I have an iPad 9th generation, and the back of the tablet got hot while playing, almost uncomfortably so. Additionally, the battery was draining pretty quickly. I eventually turned down the graphics settings, concerned my iPad was getting too hot. Maybe the more powerful tablets can do better.
Overall, I think they did a pretty good job making this work on a mobile device. The nostalgia factor is high. I’m not sure if today’s game players will appreciate it as much as those of us who played it back in the day. but I certainly enjoyed it. The price seems high—it’s twice as much as realMyst.
Because the interface is still a bit clunky at times, and because they don’t include instructions on how to move and interact, I give it 4/5 stars.
Absolutely love this game!!
I found the game to be really easy to use and play. It really caught my attention and overall a great brainteaser. I wish there was a second game!!
Wonderful remake of a classic adventure.
Yes, it is worth $15.
When you pay $1 for a game, either the game is awful, or you're the product.
I would have paid 60 and still been happy.
I played the whole Myst series as a kid -- it was a favorite. I remember wishing I could walk around in 3D some day. This remake fulfills that with great success.
Pros:
Great puzzles, interesting story, wonderful attention to detail. Every gear, button, canle, etc. has a purpose.
It has no excuse being only $15 -- there is no way they are breaking even on that.
Great movement / look controls.
Performance on my IPhone 13 is excellent.
Cons/Suggestions:
1. Touching small buttons / controls can he tricky.
2. It is hard to see small objects on mobile. Game could benefit greatly from a FOV zoom tool.
3. Accessing stored photos should not need to go through the menu.
4. A note taking / drawing tool would be handy, especially for the sellenic age mine and the marker switch puzzle.
5. Detail should optionally reduce while the phone is charging -- Some devices slow to a crawl on the charger.
6. I need more. Pls hurry up and finish riven. Tell the staff that I told them they are grounded if they do not release it by tomorrow.
I got the finally got the book open. Now what?
Finally, I was able to maneuver the difficult controls to get the book open. Something is playing on the screen, although it’s difficult to get close enough to figure out what it is. I keep tapping the book, nothing seems to happen. I’ve swung around in the dark, tapped the cave opening, and nothing. No way to access settings, figure out what to do, or anything. After about five minutes, I closed the app.
Edit: I closed the app and started over. This time, I went straight ahead to the book rather than going to the left first. The controls should not let you move anywhere other than straight ahead, because once you do, you can’t go straight to the book to go in. I’m going to keep playing, but this was not a good opening.
Dumb
Really stupid. It doesn’t work. Idiots!
Good game, just one issue
Great game, the only issue is that whenever I try to go into the options menu, it autosaves and exits the options menu, not letting me use and options. please fix
