Description

myTracks turns your iPhone or Apple Watch into a fully functional GPS logger. The GPS recordings can be displayed on different maps, which are also available without an internet connection if required. During a recording you can place and name waypoints to mark important locations. In addition to the waypoints, you can also take photos in myTracks, which are then assigned directly to the GPS track. The GPS tracks are stored exclusively on your iPhone, which means you don't have to register or log in anywhere. If you want, you can sync all your GPS tracks between your devices (iOS and macOS) via iCloud.

You can start and stop GPS recordings individually or use the energy-saving diary mode, where myTracks automatically creates a single track with the most important positions for each day. You can conveniently manage the GPS tracks in the track library. From there you can export the tracks or the associated photos, e.g. by e-mail and publish them on social networks.

The integrated Apple Watch app shows information about the current GPS recording. This includes the start time, distance covered, current, minimum and maximum altitude and the current map section. The GPS recording of the iPhone can be started and stopped via the Apple Watch and waypoints can be added. Since myTracks 5 you can also record directly with the Apple Watch.

No longer records tracks accurately

Misses too many points for this version to be of any use. Gps doesn’t seem to work properly any more.

New update

The latest myTracks is now working well. Smooth recording and Recording in Motion Only are making this much more accurate. No adds, no pressure.

Refusing to open

It is currently refusing to open, the bluish globe appears but nothing happens and eventually app closes and it goes back to the home screen

Accurate

This is app is superb, I haven’t had any issues and I’ve been using it for a few years now. Support has been quick and spot on! Best GPS app I’ve had.

Does exactly what it says on the Tin

Look no further then this for a gps tracker, works with Apple Watch to. I’ve been logging my gps tracks for years using this, and it has never let me down.

great for walks

I use this regularly to navigate unknown places which are not covered in detail on eg Apple Maps. the OpenStreetMaps pixel mode is great for seeing paths out in the open. The position indicator takes a moment to find my exact location but usually it works just fine if i give it a few seconds. I don’t even use the GPS logging functions - as a navigation app I quite enjoy myTracks, despite its somewhat non-streamlined UI. Recommended but do take your time to learn the UI.

Excellent free tracking app!

I and a few other people use this as part of a mapping project for coastal change. Easy to use and download the data by emailing it. Would be nice if one could have some aerial photography as a back ground🙂

Bugs bugs bugs!

The app has loads of bugs, it crashes all the time, especially when arranging folders and changing their names. I’m having so many issues with it. I must have renamed and rearranged my tracks and folders a million times, but they always go back to their previous state. And recently when I starts tracking, after a while it’s done nothing... and then it crashed yet again. After the latest update there’s a very annoying blue line on top of all apps, that reminds me that mytracks is actively using my location... I KNOW... I TURNED IT ON, DIDN’T I?!? This app is getting worse by the day! There should be a warning when deleting entire folders... I’ve just deleted an entire folder with years worth of tracks, while deleting a bunch of meaningless tracks. So very disappointing. Even better, there should be the option to LOCK a folder or a track, so that it cannot be deleted without unlocking it first.

Could be easily improved

The map packages are too big, if the UK could be split by county it'd be significantly more useful.

Works really well

I just leave this on and it makes a day by day record of where I have been, overplayed on a map. Great for when I cannot recall where I was on a particular day. Have even used it to find my car when I forgot where I had parked it.
