Description

The National Comprehensive Cancer Network® (NCCN®), is pleased to present the Virtual Library of NCCN Guidelines® app formatted for iPhone & iPad. This easy-to-use and convenient format will further assist health care professionals in their implementation of the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines®), thus improving the quality and effectiveness of care provided to patients with cancer.

NCCN is a not-for-profit alliance of leading cancer centers devoted to patient care, research, and education. NCCN is dedicated to improving and facilitating quality, effective, efficient, and accessible cancer care so patients can live better lives. Through the leadership and expertise of clinical professionals at NCCN Member Institutions, NCCN develops resources that present valuable information to the numerous stakeholders in the health care delivery system. By defining and advancing high-quality cancer care, NCCN promotes the importance of continuous quality improvement and recognizes the significance of creating clinical practice guidelines appropriate for use by patients, clinicians, and other health care decision-makers around the world.

Over the past 25 years, NCCN has developed an integrated suite of tools to improve the quality of cancer care. The NCCN Guidelines® document evidence-based, consensus-driven management to ensure that all patients receive preventive, diagnostic, treatment, and supportive services that are most likely to lead to optimal outcomes.

The NCCN Guidelines are a comprehensive set of guidelines detailing the sequential management decisions and interventions that apply to 97 percent of cancer cases in the United States. In addition, separate guidelines relate to major prevention and screening topics and another set of pathways focuses on the major supportive care areas.

The NCCN Guidelines provide recommendations based on the best evidence available at the time they are derived. Because new data are published continuously, it is essential that the NCCN Guidelines also be continuously updated and revised to reflect new data and new clinical information. The intent of the NCCN Guidelines is to assist in the decision-making process of individuals involved in cancer care—including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, payers, patients and their families—with the ultimate goal of improving patient care and outcomes. The NCCN Guidelines provide recommendations for appropriate care for most but not all patients; however, individual patient circumstances must be considered when applying these recommendations.

Latest update crashes

OncMac on

Unable to use the app after the last update. It opens but crashes immediately.

Slow to load

Azra'el on

Takes a solid 2 to 5 minutes to load. Insane.

Hate the smartphone app

RolKat on

I was so much happier with the old non-smartphone app. This app is very slow, and although it’s very good at putting the “new version available” on the tumor type icons, I absolutely cannot figure out how to update the guidelines so that I actually have said new version.

Cannot log in

Surgdoc on

Using my login that works on the website no longer works on the app.

Not reasonable

DELCO_USA on

The guidelines are sometimes multiple versions out of date. The PDF files are not readable on a smart phone. This app is clearly just bolt on to the website and is not a priority project. The guidelines should be available clearly On the smart phone platform and they should be maintained and updated for patient safety and optimal cancer care. Good luck

Basically a pdf viewer

msup44222 on

I like the fact that the guidelines are easily categorized and look nice in the app. However, I for clinical use, I feel like I’d be be better off with my own annotated PDF version of each guideline. The app makes the guidelines easy to access and read, which is good for learning and studying but not great for ease of use in a visit.

Better than nothing

AngrySmiles on

I’m a cancer genetic counselor and, and I’ve found this app most useful for quickly checking guidelines during tumor boards. Unfortunately, the app does have a habit of crashing and sometimes the guidelines remain out of date even after syncing. For example, the current version for the Hereditary Breast Cancer guidelines is 2.2019, but the app only has version 1.2018.

Buggy

Jdhgsgsvsv on

Info is all there but for something this important to every practicing Heme/Onc or trainee, really expect better than this. Hyperlinks don’t work well within content, crashes, fails to update. Customer service is excellent but they’re not working with a good product.

Needs search function

Sal207 on

It takes forever to look for something as there is no search function And it has alot of bugs and kicks u out sometimes .Needs improvement.

Marginally functional

pendragon35 on

This is atrocious. It's basically a pdf viewer of the guidelines and it crashes every five minutes. Please fix it already!
