New In Chess Reviews

So much chess content in one app

Great magazine, excellent and helpful staff!

Improved but flawed

moriae encomium on

I like the new article-based viewer, but: - I just had to sign out and in once again to get access to the issues I own; - I want to download all issues I own for easy offline viewing, not just one at the time (and I want to see on the main screen which issues have downloaded already); - the article tiles are too big and a waste of space; - with so many issues, an index or search function becomes a necessity: if the journal moves ahead, let it be done convincingly.

Best in the world

Elias Stein on

NiC is just the best chess magazine in the world, already for 30 years. Splendid that it is also possible now to read it on the road within this app. I would say: take a combined print + app subscription, like I do (giving my printed copy to a friend).

Great to have New in Chess on iPad

A long time wish has been full filled, my favorite chess magazine on my iPad. My books, my music, and now my chess magazine all in one ... Few points to improve ... The size. It would be great if a better compression algorithm would be used. Off line storage. Another improvement would be cloud storage. But wonderful experience so far!

NIC App gives a lot of enjoyment

I'm so happy with the New in Chess app! I don't have to wait anymore for the mail delivery to read the magazine - which really helps as I'm traveling a lot. You can read the magazine like you would with the print version, plus an interactive chess board. The board to replay the games is clean and works very well. I think I get more out of the magazine as I don't have to replay the moves in my head anymore!

Logs out; bought 2022, can’t open!

Bad bad bad.

Don’t update!!!!!!!!!!!

You will lose all your old issues! Paid or free.

The latest update is a huge step backwards

CapaFan1888 on

The app is almost useless now. It clearly indicates which issues I own, but there is no way for me to track which issues I’ve read or which issues I was in the middle. I would have to track that information by hand on a sticky note.

All purchases disappeared

Grandmaster Jaxor on

Thought this was a great app. Then, after purchasing a bunch of old issues, they all disappeared. It’s a shame, still a great magazine, but can’t recommend buying anything.

Worthless

alleyway2 on

United States

When app updates you lose all magazines you purchased, I sent and email, and they tell me do I remember the magazine I purchased ? Shouldn’t all my purchased magazines be recorded on my account no it’s not. Even if I do remember they are not on the app. Is this a bank robbery on line ???
