North U Sailing Trim Simulator Reviews
Sail nerd ahead
I wanted to drop in here and give north sails some love. Will you learn from this app? No. Will you be able to replicate every condition from real world to theoretically no. What can you do with this app? Everything! You can sit and push buttons all day and sim out the different scenarios. You can learn if you apply to much luff tension or if you apply to little. You can see how it alters weather helm. What you are doing with this app is putting the reps in so if you see these conditions on the water you have more experience in your noggin. What I wish? There were more colloquial terms port starboard forward aft cunning ham halyard other that neat! Really neat I am going to go and sim out a force 10 beam reach if I can.
Nothing Like It
In the sport of sailing, there’s no other application like this. The subtle differences on what you’re learning in sail trim with this app is what makes it so valuable. It’s not necessarily for the beginner, but you can take all the tools to your own boat and take it advantage of what you can learn with the simulator. I highly recommend it!
Maybe time for an update
Would be nice to have more boat options. Overall though, a good tool to teach sail trim.
Great sail trim simulator
This is an outstanding tool for playing with the different sail controls and how they can affect performance. I wish they would add an outhaul control and eventually a reaching and running simulator as well. Regardless, this is a great training tool for you and your crew and it will only get better and more accurate over time.
Not even close
Have a new main where North has installed 3 rows of 3 telltales. Had hoped that the app would teach me to master them. The does not even have Vang and outhaul trim capability. I thought better of North.
North Sail Simulator
Only shows optimized trim for close hauled course. Reaching trim and running trim should be included.
360 view of trim is helpful.
Drop the mm in adjustments. Genoa car forward or aft, sheet in ,sheet out would make more sense.
Stay away
Absolutely pointless. The setting adjustments are non existent. I thought I could learn the effects of one trim over another on the overall boat... just pointless application. Save your money!
Look Elsewhere
This app is neither entertaining nor very educational. It's not worth your time trying to figure out if 'this is all there is to it,' or your money.
Waste of money
I have a Tartan 3700 and thought this app would help with my sailing technique. I found the app to be useless and a waste of money.
