Increase Your Sight Reading Speed
I’m a beginning piano student but with a good working knowledge of theory from years of guitar. Reading the dots and putting my fingers on the intended keys has been a challenge on piano (I only did tablature on guitar). This app lets you practice doing just that. It’s like flash cards. It shows you a staff with a single note, and you are to press the piano key corresponding to that note in the one-octave 13-key keyboard (C to C) at the bottom of the screen. Then another note comes up. In the three days I’ve had the app I’ve put in 12 hours, and I can already see myself reading music faster. You can practice in several different time periods (I prefer 5 minute segments), and you can choose treble clef, bass clef or both, with or without ledger lines. When the five minutes is up it gives you a score, and reports how many you got right and wrong. Then you can do another 5 minute segment, and it shows you a graph of your history up to the previous 25 segments. I have watched this line slowly move upward as I gained speed and reduced errors. This app is really put together well and I would recommend it to people that want to increase their sight reading skills quickly.
