Description

Novelrunner is an opinionated, structured way to write a novel, using a storytelling structure based on serialized television.
NEW in version 2.0: Novelrunner+ subscribers can access an AI writing critic and editor when they provide an OpenAI API key.
When you start a project, you give Novelrunner the following pieces of information, and it creates a project template for you:
* Title
* Genre
* Word count (Novelrunner will suggest a word count based on your genre, but you are free to change it)
* Pace (How quickly does your plot move?)
* Color (Pick a nice color for your project)
Based on the above information, Novelrunner will create an appropriate amount of "Episodes" with a target word count for each. Reach the target word count for each episode, and you will reach your target word count for your novel!
EPISODES
An episode is made up of scenes. A good serialized television series will be made up of scenes that advance the show's overall plot and establish a satisfying story arc for the individual episode. Television writers typically like to end an episode in a way that entices viewers to want to watch the next one. Likewise, think about creating your episodes the same way, creating a page-turner that your readers can't put down.
The goal of Novelrunner is to invent a narrative that continually captivates readers to continue reading.
When examining your novel episodically, consider the starting and ending points of your characters and the hooks you've used to make readers want to know what happens next.
TARGET WORD COUNTS
Television shows are typically about the same length each episode–usually either 30 minutes or an hour. Likewise, keeping your novel episodes a uniform length is good. This gets readers into a routine and ensures the plot doesn't lag in long sections.
Novelrunner suggests an episode word count target. Don't worry if you don't make the target or go over; it's merely a suggestion.
EXPORT AND SUBMIT
When you have completed your novel, Novelrunner can export your novel as a complete, compiled work in RTF manuscript format. From there, you can edit as you please, split it into chapters as you see fit, and add any additional personal information.
SYNC WITH ICLOUD
Your projects are synced between all of your devices through iCloud. Start on your iPhone and continue on your iPad or Mac (through the "Designed for iPad" Mac AppStore feature)

Novelrunner Reviews

Update solved my issues, great job and thanks for listening!

I had an issue with the size of the fonts but it's been fixed and now is much more useable! Thanks for listening and bring committed to improving what is actually a great idea. I'm really enjoying the new version! Old post The concept of merging a kind of screenplay, episodic format to novel writing is a good that using scenes and episodes makes plotting and storytelling easier. Having said that where are the options for larger fonts? They are very much needed. Also the save and export is clunky and the UI looks a little primitive. I say this as someone who paid for the pro version. A lot of potential but please don’t stop developing it!

Great way to write a novel

I’m trying this app out for the latest novel I’m writing. It’s very good so far. I like the idea of splitting the novel into episodes. I feel like it’s making me give more thought to how the plot flows and that I’m constantly compelling the reader to continue reading. The manuscript export feature is awesome, saving much time getting fonts and line spacing just right. The free version does everything I need, but I might consider purchasing the subscription to support the developer—some of the additional features look pretty cool, too. Compared to other novel writing apps, the subscription cost is surprisingly cheap.
