Very helpful information. The guide and alert section has been very useful specially after bad weathers.
This is a very helpful app, packed with handy information. The downloads for offline usage is great. However a good enhancement would be to be able to search parks with multiple campgrounds by availability for all , instead of having to check each location individually and then each spot individually. Very time consuming.
I love the app but there’s just one thing that stops me from using it 90% of the time when I otherwise would. If I’m looking for somewhere to camp I want to filter by more criteria - particularly whether fires are permitted. I’d use it all the time if I could filter with criteria such as coastal, shower, toilet, fire permitted. As it is, it’s easier to get on a computer and search park by park via the map.
I absolutely love National parks and wildlife ap it is so informative and has never not promised something at a campground that it hasn’t delivered. But lately it is taking ages to load onto my phone .. Not a phone problem as it’s a latest version iPhone just wondering if it’s something that needs a look at . Keep up the amazing work NPWS I have had an awesome time camping and exploring all the areas up to now .
The information regarding alerts & closures needs to be on the actual page of the walk/activity: Not accessed via a link to a long list of closures. This is list is difficult to understand, particularly for tourists unfamiliar with the areas. In a additional to the relevant closure information posted on the actual main page of the activity, a link for further information could be provided. This further information could give exact details and timeframes of what NSWNP is in the process of doing in relation to these closures. For example, the geotechnical investigations and report timelines, if closed due to landslides. Additionally, a timeframe for repairs by NSWNP and reopening of effected areas. Having followed a further link from this difficult alerts page to a council website, I found that NSWNP doesn’t even update its information on its alert page in regards to current closures, making this app a waste of time in this case.
My version doesn’t show road names , track names or even names of towns on it , makes it a bit hard to plan a trip. Do the people making the app actually use it ?
I have loved a 15 minute drive away from the Royal National Park but have never gone beyond stopping at Audley or the beaches. I decided to try bush walking and have been so afraid of getting lost that I never tried. This app gave me the confidence to do it knowing that I can track my walk on offline maps without getting lost and even did it completely alone. Highly recommended, especially for beginners.
National Parks and Wildlife NSW app & website are great if you are happy to work with 1990 style websites that are clunky with poor graphics & difficult navigation. You can find wonderful campsites & walking trails with breathtaking vistas, you can get up close to nature and all of her beautiful flora & fauna. They give you that opportunity & it’s affordable as it should be because it belongs to all of us BUT the site itself is not for the easily frustrated computer amateur and even the tech savvy among us will be frustrated by the poor display & design of this website
Trail closures are not updated. Without NSW Parks & Wildlife Service staff providing correct information this app is useless for planning. They need to provide timeframes and actions being undertaken by them also, so people can actually plan ahead with this app. The link to closures is very hard to work out. You need to write CLOSED on the page itself with a full explanation on that main page for a track/camping ground/area etc, not a link. If parts of the track are closed, you need to write that in the GETTING THERE section itself, not a link to pages of notices that you have to try and work out the area your track is in etc etc.
