Number Hive Reviews

Promising but needs UI fixes

The gameplay is intriguing and I would love to give this a fair shot! Unfortunately the board doesn't scale to fit my iPhone 12 Mini screen, so the first and last columns of numbers are off screen. Also, in the practice game, the colors are yellow and orange. This can be tricky for kids to differentiate, especially if vision disabilities are at play. Is there a way to change the colors and scale or rotate the screen? Thank you!

Latest update, horrible

This was a definite four stars until the update just a day or two ago, where they added a bunch of different options. Now it crashes or will not even play. It was a fun little game, simple, but effective. Adding all the extra junk has ruined it.

AI gets stuck after a longer game

I plan on using this with my students this year for fluency. I’ve been playing with it for a while, but I’ve noticed the AI in the practice version will freeze up and not make any more plays after the game has had many turns.

Fluency In Action

My sixth graders struggle with fluency. I’ve utilized both the printed versions and the app for this program. The kids are so competitive and they begged to have a tournament! The adults in our school loved playing against the students as well! Highly engaging!

Rigorous Game - Low Floor/High Ceiling

After introducing this to my 8th grade students, some took on the challenge to compete against each other in their down time. This game uses the multiplication facts of 1-12 in such a way that helps learn and review them while strategically placing your next move. Love it! Thank you for creating and sharing the Number Hive.

My 6th graders love this!

I tried this with my 6th graders and they loved it. We had 5 minute battle rounds where they had to get up and find a new partner to battle. The students were engaged and beg to play it when they are done with their independent work. How can I argue?!? Worth introducing this multiplication game to your students! ✖️ ❤️

Fun but flawed

Really fun, even addictive. Excellent multiplication practice and good strategy game. But has a flaw. If the other player doesn’t make a move in the allotted 60 seconds, the game freezes.

awesome and simple!

this game is so well done, i can’t wait to try it with my kiddo to see if it helps his multiplication struggles.. i wish more played online as i find it fun to just play as well, but it will still be great to be able to host a game for my son to join and play together. thank you for making this!

What’s all the buzz about?

Mrs. Middle School Math Lady on

For this special education math teacher, the buzz is how Number Hive engages my students in math fact practice while thinking they’re just playing a game! The hive mind has worked it’s magic on me too. When I sit down to relax for the night I find myself drawn to practice mode like a bees drawn to honey. This game is really the bees knees!

Fun, easy to learn, always challenging—in a good way!

This game is fun! I like the strategy and it keeps me on my toes. It’s good practice for the littles with multiplication, but gives an opportunity to develop critical thinking and logic, too.
