Best bit of kit ever

Pretty good

August 2023 update… Generally pretty good, responsive and always seems to be able to connect to the charger without delay to update settings or get notifications. Biggest issues are with the more “smart” features, which is a shame given that’s its main selling point… The connectivity to the car manufacturer’s API has improved recently and is much more reliable now. I think the app could still do with some more regular TLC but does the job. I would echo other review around the support, it would be much less frustrating if there was a good way of feeding back issues and suggestions for enhancements to the developers.

Not very intelligent

Having massive difficulty getting on to intelligent octopus. Not getting very much useful help. Something called Beta going on. How long far. Costing me 30p / KW to charge. Spoiling my EV experience. Very disappointed.

Not Mercedes compatible

JPFrance on

United Kingdom

Does not interface with Mercedes APIs so you have to manually calculate how much charge you want / need every time. Only smart thing is that you configure the app for cheap overnight & not to charge @ peak rates. Problem with that is if you can’t get enough charge during off peak hours the app re-schedules to carry on charging 24 hrs later. All in all not smart - if I knew what I know now I wouldn’t buy the Ohme

App doesn’t communicate with my car.

Unfortunately the app doesn’t communicate with my car and have only had the car and charger for a week now and having a terrible time with it.

Great bit of kit

Really easy to use and seeing as it’s outside my house I don’t have to go hunting for chargers when my battery is low.

So many bugs

dyl8n on

United Kingdom

The app does not properly communicate with the car as is advertised. The charger talks about range added rather than desired total charge % - as the latter would need proper communication with the car as it advertises. There are information screens you can't escape without quitting the app. Hardware wise, the charger has gone offline 3 times in our first month, meaning it is uncontrollable via the app until we cut the power and restart via the fuse box. It uses the mobile network, so through no fault of ours. Would a more mature product need this? There is no error or explanation for why it is going offline. It would appear we're far from alone having these issues.

Poor app

App and ohme system poor, first of all they still haven’t fixed the issue of the app recognising my car, says I have an Hyundai ioniq when in fact I have a Kona, with a smaller battery, so constantly getting error messages as the charger doesn’t know how long to charge car for, due to the difference in battery sizes. Also I have a contract with my energy provider to get cheap rates from midnight, have to stay up till midnight to hook up the car, as ohme doesn’t allow you to schedule a start time on the app only a finish time and due to the error with it not knowing my car correctly, always wants to start charging earlier , costing me more, in addition to this ohme also prevents me from using the Hyundai blue link to schedule charges. Need a new app which is fit for purpose

Buggy, inconsistent app

Like Billy-O on

United Kingdom

After five weeks of using my Ohme Home Pro and the Ohme app, I find the Ohme app buggy and inconsistent. Given that the app was last updated a couple of months ago, I conclude the developer is complacent. Examples: 1) My Charger page reports charger Online; Dashboard reports charger Offline 2) Dashboard reports EV 95% charged; Manage My EV reports 100% charged Writing as a software developer, this is elementary stuff

Pretty good app

I wrote a review a while ago saying that the charger did not work with Nissan Ariya car but I now rescind that review because I found the issue was due to the fact I was using the Apple’s ‘private relay’ facility. Big mistake! Once I deleted my account then resigned in with my proper email, I found that the Ohme charger could talk to my car perfectly well. However, it would be great if the app allowed me to charge at different amps so I could charge my car from solar power during a sunny day without it sucking the life out of my home battery.
