About OMBE Surf

OMBE is surf coaching and training methodology that stands for Ocean, Mind, Body and Equipment.

It is an approach with a focus on syncing all four major aspects within your surfing. When all four are in sync, your surfing will improve and you will easily enter a flow state within the ocean.

Most surfers will focus on their equipment first and expect an immediate improvement in their surfing but there is an order to OMBE and a reason for it.

You first must pay attention to the ocean and what it is doing, then calm your mind, relax and remove tension, as well as understanding how to do the manoeuvres, then you give your body the chance to effectively do the manoeuvre and your focus is on removing tension in the body and doing it more effortlessly. The board will either amplify or mute your movements and then it is a case of right tool for the job.

The OMBE experience

I have just completed the OMBE 12 week program and have been super impressed by the whole package. It is so much more than an app as it brings together theory, drills and community into an accelerated learning experience that I have not seen anywhere else. Well done OMBE, you have raised the bar. My surfing (and skateboarding) thank you.

Best thing you’ll ever do for your surfing

Transformed my understanding and development

Funny how to learn to surf you’re told go every day. But, even if you do progress, you’re likely to learn bad habits and get frustrated. Or watch all the vids online but everyone has their own ideas and only teach you a bit at a time. Ombe app was great to give me access to content that broke the components of improving surfing down. I did the 12 week course and did find it a bit hard to keep up while also doing the drills at the same time so just followed the 12 weeks and then broke down and went deeper on certain aspects that I wanted to improve like my walk up and my stance, how to be a wave magnet, how to position myself etc etc. I love how much knowledge I now have to encompasses the full suite of skills needed to improve and enjoy my surfing more.

Great surfing course

Finally a surfing course based on rational methodologies and techniques rather than urban myths and unachievable goals. The best investment for your money if you seriously want to improve your surfing. No matter what your current level is, you will find material suitable for everyone, from novice to expert.

Answer to stagnation

Having taken to surfing in my 30s, any progression has taken a long time and been hard fought. I have found the biggest challenge to be that mistakes in technique are hard to identify - and even harder to correct. The ‘ground up’ approach that OMBE takes with all aspect of surfing knowledge and technique is definitely the antidote to stagnation. Right now I understand more that I ever imagined about waves, boards, and effective movement. PS do the reps to reap the rewards!

So many gems

The content of this app is unreal. Clay has given me so many tips and tricks that has improved my surfing tremendously. Things that would have taken me years to figure out by myself is now part of my everyday surfing.

So good

This program has taught me so much about surfing. Sitting at the bus stop, the coffee cup to using the power zones of the wave and simplifying the walk up. The drills make sense and give you confidence when you’re in the water. Highly recommended.
