Hands down the best app I’ve ever downloaded. If you are a crossword lover then I can promise you there’s no better app than this!

Great app! I get tired of NYT crosswords so this is a nice option when I want to change it up. Occasionally the NYT crossword has clues for the wrong part of the puzzle which is frustrating (such is the case with today’s). Also the rebus function doesn’t seem to work—you can rebus but the puzzle won’t accept the answer even when correct. Overall this is one of the best xw apps out there.

If you love working crosswords you will have to have this app. It has quickly become one of the most essential apps. The only thing I wish that would be added is a setting to jump back to the first blank in an answer when you are filling it in, a tiny complaint and not enough to affect my rating. Thank you! Update: still love this app, would be wonderful if there was a method for filling in rebus answers!

Was super fast and slick, then after updating to iOS 18 it immediately started running at one tenth the speed. Great app, hope this helps the dev sort it out

This app has become inconsistently buggy and slow, after years of working well. It is now often unplayable. Really disappointed! Hope it gets fixed sometime soon.

App has horrible battery issues.

There is absolutely no reason for this app to use as much battery per-minute as Facetime. Possibly this is a real bug, but I am wondering if there is some dumb crypto thing running in the background.

Edit edit: While my phone doesn’t behave as described below very often nor as strongly, it does seem to be related to being plugged into the charger. When charging, the phone still behaves like there’s water on the screen sometimes. So, I re-rated the app. Probably going to redownload it eventually, I like it much more than other crossword apps. Still bizarre that it does this more often and more strongly in this app. Would also love an update that fixes the battery drain/heat and allows me to swipe to change clues. Edit: Since updating the app, my phone starts acting erratically when I do a crossword. Not every crossword, but a handful of times now (enough for me to finally trace it to this app), I’ll be working on a crossword and my phone will start behaving as though there are rapid taps and swipes on screen. Worse, it continues to do it for a while outside of the app. I thought my phone was breaking, then I thought somehow my case was causing it (which led to me buying a new case). I finally realized it only happened while playing a crossword (and then afterward for a while), and doesn’t happen if I stay out of this app. I’ve deleted the app. I’ll update this review if I continue having the problem even without this app (as there’s a possibility I’m pinning the blame on this app when it’s not the cause.) Original review: Been using this app for a while now and mostly love it. The biggest longtime issue is it drains battery very fast, makes my phone pretty warm, and occasionally relaunches without having saved my progress on a crossword.

It takes 2 to 3 days before they are updated. This happens more often than not. Any fixes?
