They have high quality manga, the app is smooth, they continuously add new series, and they have a membership that allows you pay a solid price for a legal library. Had a great first year using it and now am a premium member!
Don’t bother paying for a subscription. Not only do you have to pay for subscription but it forces to buy the rest of the series of w.e manga your reading. If your gonna pay for a manga it’s better to order hard/soft books direct from the manga artists store
Many if not most manga are incomplete. Now this is the publishers fault, but Azuki does not make it obvious that series are incomplete, and will never be complete. Nothing worse than starting a series you cannot finish. There are better ways to consume manga.
The app itself is fine enough. Easy to navigate, plenty of reading options, large assortment of manga. Honestly it’s what I was searching for. Until I saw the dreaded lock on chapters from a certain point onwards. “One time purchase to unlock the content below,” or something. You’d think that’d be fine, and was more than willing to pay for the remaking volumes. But this is.a subscription based service. Why do I have to pay for the remaining volumes when I’m already paying for the subscription? It’s one or the other. Both at one is asinine anti consumer behavior.
In a sea of depraved manga sites where the only thing you can find is overly sexualized youth, Azuki comes to the rescue. There are so many great titles to choose from with a story outside of typical tropes and I am happy to have stumbled across it.
I would love to give this more stars, as I think it creates great accessibility to more manga to more people. I have a huge issue with how downloads are handled as I’m regularly offline. I understand licensing issues and most entertainment downloaded times out now. This is pretty annoying and could probably be handled better than deleting and redownloading (renew lease maybe?)…but my biggest issue is with PURCHASED Manga, volumes you pay to buy on top of your subscription. These purchased volumes “expire” just like any other download. They should NEVER expire as you have paid additional money to purchase them specifically. Either the fees need to change and go way down if you don’t actually own that digital copy, or they need to never expire as they are yours now. I’m happy to revisit this review if things change.
I’m fine with paying a monthly subscription, and I’m fine with buying individual volumes. What I’m not fine with is doing both. Pick one or the other.
There was one series that I wanted to read, that wasn’t available anywhere else, so I downloaded the app. It doesn’t load any of the chapters at all. What’s the point? I spent over 5 minutes waiting for the chapter to load, and Nada. I even tried looking at different series. Nothing loads.
I am do glad I didn’t pay for this service. I did the free trial and literally no manga loads for me. I click different chapters and it endlessly stays loading. I don’t see any images at all. Imagine if I had paid for this? I tried my computer and phone. Both don’t work. Is it something with my account? I’ve already tried going to my email and click the “Start Reading” and still nothing.
