No idea who this is for. When thinking whether to go to a place I don’t want the excessive details about the taste, that is what I go there to experience and I don’t need spoilers. I want to know the key points (whether the place is open as advertised or closed at random times, who owns it whether the staff is nice and food preparation is trustworthy, whether food is good or bad according to reviewer taste, whether it is a good date spot or an eatery, etc.). This is lacking in OpenRice reviews. If you try to submit a review with this it will get censored immediately because it is off topic. A maps app is much more worthwhile when choosing where to go in HK or Asia.
Most company review apps and services like Yelp and OpenRice don’t really support community voices to see if restaurants and things are good or bad. They seem to be especially strict and rejected all of my reviews good or bad with no details as to why just a copy+paste rejection…

Haven’t been able to use it on my iPhone — always got the time out retry error msg. Reinstalled it several times and didn’t work.
My husband and I love to to to Cafe Crepe because the crepes are the best in Hong Kong. In addition the menu is so varied any taste can be accommodated. Then to finish off with a dessert crepe is a must. The staff are considerate and professional. We have never walked away disappointed. Bravo, Cafe Crepe!!
Edit: they have fixed their dismiss button and it’s a lot better now. When ads pop up on iPhone X, the little cross that lets you dismiss the ad is placed on the top right hand corner - a place where the phone does not detect touch. I can’t close the ad and I can’t use the app either. The only thing I can do is force quit the app and hope ads don’t pop up. Unusable.
Loved using openrice when we were doing our recent trip around Asia. Super useful in finding popular local restaurants in the cities! Highly recommend for tourists and locals in Hong Kong.
The UI is clunky, outdated and hard to interact with but beyond that, the app basically tries to "trick" you into clicking ads by popping them up during key interaction points. Not only does this ruin the user experience and make the app harder to use, it is dishonest in many ways. Note to open rice: don't deceive your users. Keep the experience in mind and users will flock to your app rather than try to turn a quick dime with sneaky UI and ad placement.
Hungry hungry no more!
