Is this even the real tor project?
All this is so shady? Is developer Mike tigas even connected to this project? So much NON EXISTING information about the provenance of this project “ Is this the same people as TAILS? All very sus
You'll have to be completely nut to use it!
This uses TOR as a VPN on your personal phone, this means all your traffic and personal info will travel (yes I know is encrypted) thru super shady TOR nodes. It defeats any propose of anonymity! And IMO is super dangerous.
Added a VPN that tries to auto connect??
I like this app and what it does, but it created a VPN that auto tries to connect and caused me some issues trying to connect to various other apps and also got me into trouble with work. So thanks for that? Don’t know why this was set to auto connect even when not using the app. I just wanted to browse the Tor browser and closed it. Shouldn’t have made the VPN auto connect and cause me confusion and more issues.
Not working
App doesn’t work. Used to work with bridges, but bridges were removed.
Solid but needs some work.
GeoIP is broken. Failed to open GEOIP file when geoblocking. Otherwise solid.
Orbot vs Tor
The description says the developer is the Tor Project, Inc, which is not the Tor Project. If you look at the torproject.org, orbot is not mentioned and if you click on the developer website in the Apple App Store you go to orbot.app
Orbot Performance
It's a good program, but 1- I couldn't find any information on obtaining the necessary values and configurations for the professional section in a Google search. 2- When the mobile goes into standby mode, the program stops working (background activity is already enabled in the settings), and the phone cannot perform its necessary activities like backing up or sending analysis and troubleshooting data to developers, etc. Regard
orbot only can use custom bridge while installed the onion browser
as topic, the orbot have no option to support the user to custom private bridges got from tor. And the app couldn’t proxy app as needed. Even the speed of orbot is very slow, not efficiently. Hope improving upgrade
bring Bridges back !
