Poor Account Connection

Pfrase on

United States

This app has a great UX and looks great; however, half of my accounts won’t connect and the do not update when they do get connected. The “MX” partner that’s supposed to securely connect your accounts works 50% of the time. Not really worth paying for an app that can’t even track your accounts accurately.

Just short of perfection (for me)

sriram-rao on

United States

The app is visually so pleasing and neat and tidy. It really does everything, including taxes. But there’s more about that on the website. I’d give the app 4.8 for now, because there are some small use cases it doesn’t support yet. Like seeing the categorisation rules I’ve set up, splitting across months, setting future dates to charges. I like to do that when I pay for multiple months of a subscription to balance my spending numbers. Also, dark mode pleeease 🥺

Lots of Potential!

I’m a Copilot user for finances, and I saw this app on an Instagram app and really liked the polished look for the app, so I decided I’ve give it a go. I used it for a few hours, but I found many things that I’m not the biggest fan of, but also things that I like. What I didn’t like: 1. The user interface on mobile feels “big”, especially for larger devices like the iPhone 16 Pro Max. I feel like my screen space isn’t really being used to its fullest, and there could be a lot more out on the screen at once. 2. A general dashboard for my finances would be great. The spending page has a huge graph simply comparing my spending to last month. While useful, I’d also appreciate some insights under the graph, like what I’m spending the most on, or maybe the transaction categories that have risen this month. I just feel like I need to dig for a lot of useful info that should be easily viewable at a glance. 3. No dark mode is a personal ick for me. I use dark mode on all my apps, and many others do as well, so this was a pretty big miss in my eyes. 4. I think the main spending page should be a lot more modular and customizable, rather than only having the favorites tab to customize. What I did like: 1. I really enjoy how in-depth the investment insights are. Other financing apps tend to skim over investments, but Origin gives a lot of detail which is nice. It would be nice to see some of this treatment for general spending. 2. Auto-tracking subscriptions and recurring fees is great. I know some apps don’t do this, so it’s a nice feature to have. Overall, most of my gripes with Origin are primarily the user interface with the spending tab. I feel like spending is the most fundamental part of finances, and the user interface Origin provides for spending and transactions just doesn’t quite hit the nail for me. There are so many aspects to what affects monthly spending, but Origin only scratches the surface, at least at a glance. There’s a lot that can be done to improve the app, and I definitely see the potential! But for now, I think there are better alternatives.

Needs Pro Max UI Support & Apple Card Linking Fixed.

KD13JL on

United States

Only thing keeping me from 4 stars is that the Apple Card linking isn’t working, and the keyboard and UI isn’t updated for Pro Max phones (I am on 16 Pro Max). The other AI tools, like the Budget tool, will probably get this to 5 stars when it releases. Pending that they work well and provide useful insight.

What I’ve been waiting for!

Cam Lindsay on

Origin does everything you’d want from a budgeting tool and so much more. I’ve used YNAB for years and always hated using it; too manual and super crappy experience. Now everything is automated with optional customization if I want it, just the way I’ve always wished for

Great on paper…

Laced6 on

United States

…but functionality needs work. I took the time to connect everything and then spent a week or two fiddling with it every time I used it, finally giving up. I disconnected everything but Fidelity which doesn’t make sense (on my part) when I can just login to Fidelity. Another useless “work benefit”.

Easiest Budgeting App

Mmallory12 on

United States

This is by far the most user friendly budgeting/finance app that I’ve used. The capabilities and ease of categorizing transactions, linking accounts, and creating rules make this very seamless and easy to use. I’m excited to keep tracking my family’s spending and goals with Origin.

Comprehensive finances

Jeff TheSigma on

United States

This app for financial planning goes beyond the basics of budgeting, letting me to take full control of my financial future. The ai assistant provides useful insights into my spending and investments, while the estate planning feature offers peace of mind for securing the future of my growing family. Integrating all my accounts was seamless. Even letting me connect loans to assets to understand my net worth. This truly simplifies financial management and future planning.

its almost good. i just kept noticing too many design flaws

itrytobenice11 on

United States

safe area nav bar looks too low meaning the number of times i tried to go to a different page and activated siri type to interact was annoying the subscription took too long to update - did it with stripe on web then came back just to see it not yet refreshed which confused me. seeing the aws on login with google was a giveaway that this may still be in the scrappy stages which concerns me since this is financial data we are dealing with here, so id rather just not because it might be worse under the hood. i do like the concept of combining a good ui tho with this type of budgeting app. its just not there yet for me

Poor GUI

lilSillyGuy42069 on

United States

I downloaded it to manage my budget. To attach an account like Cash App I can’t tap Connect because the button is too low in the menu. I can’t even scroll it up to ghetto tap it. I’m on iPhone 14. This app sounds cool. It’d be cooler if I could use it. I’d fix my rating to five stars if this were fixed. I’ll leave the one star and cancel trial if it’s not
