CineTrail – From Screen to Streets
CineTrail is the essential companion for film lovers, travellers, and explorers looking to experience the world of cinema beyond the screen. The app allows users to discover and visit real-life filming locations from over 1,000 films and TV shows, explore curated trails inspired by iconic scenes, and share their own adventures with a growing community of film fans.
Whether you're standing where a legendary battle was filmed, retracing the footsteps of a romantic lead, or finding a hidden corner made famous by your favourite series, CineTrail helps you explore the world one movie at a time.
At the heart of CineTrail is an interactive map that showcases verified filming locations around the world. Users can browse by location, genre, or film title.
Each location includes details about the scene filmed there, a description of the spot, and relevant film information.
The app also allows users to search by film to instantly see every location associated with that title and any trails the film is part of.
CineTrail also features curated “Trails” – themed groups of locations bundled into travel experiences. For example, users might follow “5 Iconic London Film Spots” or “New York on Screen,” visiting one location after another. When starting a trail, users can mark off each location as they go, or rate the full experience once complete. Trails can be saved, tracked, and shared via user profiles.
Each user has a profile that serves as a logbook of their cinematic adventures. Posts can be created for each location visited, with the ability to add photos, short descriptions, and personal reflections. Posts appear on your profile and are visible to others, letting friends see where you’ve been and what you’ve enjoyed. You can also rate locations.
You can also save any film location, helping you build a personalised watchlist of future trips. CineTrail is more than a film location directory; it's a tool for building your own unique travel and cinema journey.
There are two ways to contribute new locations. The first is through posts, which log a personal visit and share it publicly on your profile. The second is via the submission system, where users can suggest new filming locations to be added to the public CineTrail map. These submissions are reviewed for accuracy and completeness before being added to ensure the overall quality of the database.
Profiles are simple, public, and free from clutter. There is no messaging between users; this is a discovery-first platform. It’s designed to let film fans inspire each other with their experiences, not overwhelm them with chat or noise.
CineTrail was created with user privacy in mind. All data is handled in line with GDPR regulations. No location data is collected without consent, and moderation systems are in place to ensure that shared content is appropriate, accurate, and respectful. The app prioritises your experience and your control.
This is a platform built by film lovers, for film lovers, with a vision to bring cinema out of the theatre and into the real world. CineTrail connects people not only to the films they love but to the cities, landscapes, and landmarks that made those stories possible.
Whether you’re climbing hills from a fantasy epic, wandering cobbled streets from a spy thriller, or sharing photos from your own movie-inspired day out, CineTrail is your guide to turning film into footsteps.
