Offline Download, some bugs, and a different question
The fact that in ANY capacity that this Browser is able to be able to use extensions from BOTH the Firefox addons store and Chrome Web Store already makes this browser more superior to Safari and Firefox Focus for IOS. However, there are still some bugs like how SponsorBlock has trouble loading through a segment that is being asked to skipped as well as naturally recognizing that there are segments in a video that can be skipped without having to manually do it through the SponsorBlock extension is an example. As well as how SponsorBlock only works from the Chrome Web Store and not from the Firefox addon store. However Safari unlike Orion collects data according to Apple’s very own App Store details of both apps. I desire the Orion Browser to succeed, however there are a few things that I think hold it back. The bugs of the extensions being able to work, as that’s, in my opinion, its main selling point and what differentiates this browser from others on the App Store. But I think can be taken care of easily. However I think Orion’s competition is the Brave Browser App. There are 2 advantages I think that the Brave Browser has over the Orion Browser, which also go over my last 2 points. The first is the Offline Download ability. Currently the Brave Browser app’s offline download ability is able to do downloads off any website that has a video. However, it struggles with downloading YouTube videos unless the WiFi has a strong connection. However there are some features even that app doesn’t have. The ability to control the resolution of the video being downloaded based on the website supported resolutions of the video being downloaded. At least up to 720p. As well as the feature of editing out certain segments in a video such as if I wanted to offline download a video but there is a sponsor segment within the video and I wanted to edit the segment out of my downloaded video. The second advantage that the Brave Browser has over Orion is that the Brave Browser is COMPLETELY open-source. While I understand that some parts of Orion are open-source. Some people may think that since there are Ad-Blockers that works for Safari, as well as since for YouTube, extensions like SponsorBlock are supported on Safari and work more seamlessly, and both are proprietary and I don’t know what is happening with the code, I may as well use the Browser already on my phone rather than download a new one that does that same thing not as well as Safari. I certainly hope that Orion t
Good browser but…
The interface doesn’t match the current safari interface, not clean enough, which is a major part of safari
I want to like it
I really want to like this app because I love Kagi and love the idea and team behind it. Unfortunately it is just in an unusable state and always has been every time I come back to it. It often crashes, freezes so you can’t click buttons, etc. It’s a shame because it’s a cool idea.
Best browser
I wish the developer would have a paid version of the browser with more frequent updates. I think it’s the best browser around, but there are certainly browsers with more options available.
Pretty good for ad heavy things - anime
Like other people I wouldn’t use this site over something else like google but it does allow you to install ad blockers so it makes pirating anime on an anime site much better.
Awesome browser
Love it. Hope to see chromecasting one day.
Fantastic Browser
This browser is fast, well appointed, and gets the job done. The browser and search engine (Kagi) are game changers. It’s is my every day driver now. It is frequently updated with feedback from the community of users in mind. If you like it and want to see it go places consider supporting development via Orion+. Pretty neat to see these folks making a browser (and search engine) that feels like they are being designed to be my tools versus others that are designed to use me for financial gain (ads/tracking/algorithms). I am rooting for these folks.
Crashes on me
Every 10 minutes or so, it crashes on me.
Great browser but..
It really confuses tabs. When you change a tab to a new site, it often holds on to a different open tabs title, no matter if you reload the page.
Extension support is poor. Otherwise fantastic
I was very excited to hear about better extension support on iOS. Sadly, it seems this wasn’t meant to be. Basically every big name extension I tried failed completely. I was especially disappointed that Tap to Tab didn’t work. The customization is otherwise amazing compared to Safari, and I really appreciate the gestures. I hope the devs keep at this and focus more on the extension support as the rest of the browser is basically perfect in my eyes, and this would be the other big advantage it could have over Safari
