"OsiriX HD" is a DICOM software for iOS: DICOM is the digital standard for storing and transferring medical images. OsiriX HD allows downloading and manipulating series of images directly on your iOS device. OsiriX HD is capable of displaying images from all imaging modalities (ultrasound, CT scanner, MRI, PET, etc.) in their native standard DICOM format used by the medical/scientific industry. OsiriX HD is a fully DICOM-compliant listener that can receive images from any DICOM imaging device through WiFi/3G networks. It supports these DICOM Network protocols: C-STORE SCP, C-MOVE SCU, C-FIND SCU, C-GET SCU, WADO, DICOMweb.
This iOS app is designed to work seamlessly with any DICOM compatible software, including PACS, medical workstations, acquisition modalities. It also supports communications through the iOS built-in VPN for secure and encrypted connections.
OsiriX HD provides fast interactive image manipulation tools such as zoom, pan, cine and contrast adjustment of images through the multipoint touch screen interface.
The convenience of being able to access DICOM images remotely added to the fact that images can be previewed on the iPhone/iPad screen in a very effective and convenient way offers a new perspective for mobile teleradiology.
This iOS application can also be used as a helper application for other iOS applications: it allows to read DICOM datasets received by emails or in Safari, or to visualize DICOM datasets stored in DropBox folder, for example. It also supports a built-in URL scheme protocol (osirix://) for easy integration in RIS, HIS, or PACS environment.

OsiriX HD Reviews

Originally useful but now lost functionality

AlexH131 on

United Kingdom

Seemingly not the only one affected by the change from a paid app to a subscription model. Having previously used for teaching and found it quite useful I had a period of not using HD due to a change in role. Coming to use it again the app has become a subscription model now and the original functionality from purchasing the app for £20.99 has been lost behind a paywall. I have tried ‘restore purchase’ but get a ‘you don’t have an active subscription - please subscribe message’. I can’t log in to the software as it previously didn’t require you to have an OsiriX account so at present I’m stumped without the application I paid for. Have contacted Pixmeo and await a response but not hopeful given other comments here. Disappointing as although the subscription model is now common I feel functionality bought before this should be honoured. Two stars as previously it was relatively useful - now useless.

Disappointed

MW54321 on

I originally paid £20.99 for the fully functioning app. Now I discover that the app has become “free” but requires a monthly subscription of £9.99 to get the functionality that I originally paid for. There is no option to revert back to the paid-for version of the app. I emailed the developers to question this, but received no response. Very disappointed & it looks like I’m not the only one who feels this way. I understand that the “subscription model” is fashionable at the moment, but I can’t believe that I no longer have access to what I originally paid for. Update: I received a developer response as stating that I should “click on ‘restore purchase’ to re-activate your license”. This doesn’t work & I have no mechanism to contact whoever left this developer response to discuss further.

I originally paid for this application, now it has gone over to subscription. Still can use as a a original purchaser. Come mode not working

Excellent value for money - lots of easy-to-use functionality included at a really reasonable price.

Sneaky update

GRMITRAD on

United Kingdom

I previously paid for this app but a recent automatic update has removed all key functionally unless I buy a subscription. No warning of this, no option to use an earlier version.

Please keep improving it

An excellent dicom viewer. Given the power of the iPad Pro line, I’d like to see it get more power features, eg MPR with adjustable angles, MIP etc.

Great App but more tools needed

IanSimpson99 on

United Kingdom

Getting DICOMs loaded up, especially zipped ones, usually works well, but can be clunky at times. Really need the ability to draw shapes, lines, measure angles, mirror-flip, and so on, and also be able to save the modified images along with the originals... Otherwise great!!

Used to be a great WORKING App

Dnone1 on

United Kingdom

Since the newest update unable to review zipped files. A message pops up 'unzipping files' though nothing happens. Please fix!! Or charge money for this app but make it work!!

Can't open files

Open_Research on

United Kingdom

It says it can. But this app can't open DICOM files from Dropbox. OsirisX doesn't appear in the iPad's "Open in" list (which is empty), so there is no way to open the files. What a waste of £40.

Good for teaching and demonstrations

Good image quality. Functionality limited by screen real estate.
