OtO Lawn FAQ
Is OtO Lawn free?
Yes, OtO Lawn is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is OtO Lawn legit?
🤔 The OtO Lawn app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
The product is a great addition to the watering capabilities. It’s basically someone standing with a hose and pointing it around your yard, but programmed. That said, it is very basic compared to most watering systems. You can only water once a day, which is … strange. There is no history or water usage details. You can’t check and see if your stuff got watered. The manual watering is problematic. It’s seems like, to save battery, the system only check in every 5 minutes. That’s fine. But, I’ve plugged mine in, and that doesn’t seem to change anything. More importantly, the UX doesn’t provide any useful feedback. I want my dad to get one, but I can’t do a problem free demo.
The app, at a minimum, needs history and more details on the manual watering. It needs to say when it has registered with the cloud, and when it is waiting on the base station. The spinning thing often takes more than 5 minutes to work. Today, I went out and pressed the button (which isn’t even a button) and it still never came on…. Or maybe it did, but didn’t say anything. No history, so I don’t know.
Great app and device
I've had 2 devices for about a month now and love it. The app is easy to use and well designed. The only feature I would request is the ability to water the same zone twice in one day without having to redraw it. Either giving the option to clone a zone or let me schedule multiple daily waterings on the same zone. When we have a week of 110 degree days I like to water once in the morning and once in the evening. Thanks for the great device!
Great device and app
Got mine a few days ago. Super easy to set-up and the app looks nice. Saves a ton of time. Looking forward to more features. Couple of things that would be great:
- Allow to water same zone multiple times a day
- Overlay satellite image from a maps provider
- Hardware: Option for different stream/spraying pattern - for newly seeded grass the stream is too hard - would be nice if it could be spread out a bit like sprinklers.
Multiple schedules per zone
Need the ability to either clone a zone or provide the ability to set multiple schedules per zone
OtO problem
I’ve used OtO for past 2-3 years. It work flawlessly until I got a new one last year at the end of season.
This season while setting it up, I can not move the head with app to set boundaries. I also see the app changed since summer of 2022. Right now it’s just sitting on the side of my building collecting dust. Still waiting to hear from OtO team.
Frustrating app
App keeps freezing up when trying to set boundaries. Extremely frustrating and makes me want to return these devices!
Exceptionally unreliable
Loses Bluetooth connection. Even when charged the suggestion is to take it in the house and charge it.
Doesn’t shoot 30 ft like they say unless you elevate it. 25 maybe from ground level but better be a calm day.
Needs location services? WHY? We have to map the route, so location means nothing.
Idea is nice, but execution needs a lot of work.
Bought it in fall, showed up super late. First time using it was last week and got about 4 days out of it. Can’t return now. Big regret.
So many good things to say
The app and the system have been working flawlessly. The weather integration is amazing and the overall navigation and UI have been well thought out.
The only thing missing is an API connection. I would love access to my lawn’s data. Alexa integration would also be a huge win. I requested to be in the beta group when these features are released.
Can’t even log in anymore
It gets stuck asking me to put my location in even though they already have that information. Then I get the circle of death and it won’t let me log into the app. No idea when the last time was that the lawn was watered.
Great app. Looking toward to updates
app is super easy to use but editing the zone boundaries can be quite tedious and sometimes the app timed out/freezes. I often just end up deleting the whole boundary and starting over.
