The app won’t work at all unless I allow it to access my location. This is intrusive and completely unnecessary. I use a number of map-based weather and outdoor apps, and all of them work fine without location access. The developer’s privacy policy claims they don’t collect any data, so why does it require location access?

It only shows random individual hiking trails. It gives the wrong distances for everything. The well known Wonderland Trail which is around 99 miles is said to be 3.4 on this app. What the heck. I can’t use it for anything whatsoever.

I just went on a road trip to Colorado to do some dispersed camping on public land, and this app was a huge help with finding and identifying land boundaries and camp sites /areas. The map has lots of different settings and filters. It was very easy to see BLM and National Forest land boundaries and you can even use the map offline which is incredibly helpful.

Love this app, but would like it more if the developers could simply make the coordinates able to be copied and pasted with other map apps. For example, I would love to copy the coordinates and paste in apple maps to route it quickly to the spot. Also, I would be nice to be able to take coordinates from Apple Maps and paste in Outly and have it locate the spot so I can pin it. Without this, I am just leave to scroll around on the map until I can find the point, which isn’t too bad, but gets a little annoying since that seems like a small feature to integrate.

I love Outly for its many layers - land, water, wildlife and satellite imagery overlays. Very easy to use and it has replaced most of my Garmin GPS fieldwork.

Definitely small room for improvement, I would like if the dispersed camping was outlined verses just dots, and that the “developed” dispersed spots stayed as dots… I don’t know if that made ANY sense. That said!! I like the layout and the interactive features of the platform. It’s easy to use, shows more than I anticipated. The more users who share the more information will be available too. Which is exciting it’s like a club, for those who find their hearts beat for the great and beautiful outdoors.

i’ve used this app for a couple months now to both plan camping trips as well as navigate when off grid. Online and off-line functions work perfectly. The interface is easy to understand and use, and the data sets are extremely useful for camping and hiking to say the least. Thanks for creating this fantastic app!

Not only does it give you the exact locations of trails, roadsways, waterways, and so much more, but it also gives you information about them.
