Oyakodon for Mastodon Reviews
Shaping up to be a good Tootdon alternative!
The bugs in earlier reviews seem to be fixed!
So far I have tried Tootdon, Amaroq, and this app as Mastodon apps. Tootdon has a number of issues and bugs, especially with search functions, so I wanted to explore alternatives.
So far, this app is shaping up to be my favorite in terms of design and functionality. Swipe navigation between Home, Notifications, etc. is interesting, the app is themed in a pleasing dark blue-grey, and content is formatted logically. This app definitely feels a little more like Tumblr, as opposed to Tootdon, which feels more like Twitter.
The only bug I've found so far is that the "edit profile" pencil icon doesn't seem to do anything when clicked, but I was able to edit my profile from the app a different way.
FEEDBACK FOR DEVELOPERS:
-There should be a way to give feedback/report errors to the Oyakodon developers, within the app settings.
-The page turning effect to switch instances is great when it works! But it's difficult to tell the difference between the swiping motion for switching between Notifications and Home (for example), and the swiping motion to switch instances. That makes instance switching by swiping from the edge difficult.
-GIFs do not seem to load properly for me, although photos and videos work just fine
-when viewing photos, the feed in the background is greyed out. However, swiping up/down still scrolls up and down in the feed. I think the feed should not move when swiped, but instead swiping should exit the photo viewing mode.
-I instinctively swipe to pull down the feed or notifications to refresh/update, like in other apps - but that doesn't work in this app.
Crash on instance registration
Crashes every time I try to register an instance, on two devices.
Crashes every time I select a Mastodon instance
When you first open the app, you have to select a Mastodon instance. Doing so crashes the app. I can’t use the app for this reason.
