Great organization app for backpacking trips
After entering everything into the app, it organizes gear very efficiently and when you create an outing, it’s very easy to create a gear packing list, with checklist feature, and total gear load out weight. Very well done!!
Exactly what you need
I like the app a lot. Just started using it and have logged a good number of my hiking/camping gears. Easy. One issue I have is that it seems weight of items can be entered only in Oz or grams. Why not in lbs? I should convert the weight of a, say, 4 lb backpack to Oz or grams? One of the screen shots has lb and oz entered fir a backpack, but I cannot figure out how to do it. Otherwise highly recommended.
I love this app! It’s much more convenient than lighter pack. My only wish list item is the ability to sync it between devices. I started my list (50 items and counting) on my iPad. Then I downloaded the app to my phone and realized there’s no way to log in or sync up. I think a workaround may be to export to csv, import to lighter pack, then pull into pack light…but I haven’t tried it yet. Making the app syncable is my one request! Thanks for the app!
The app is easy to use. It has got two different sections. The first is a camping gear list, which allows you to put in all the information about a specific item or a specific group of items, by weight, make notes about that particular item, what you may to include with that item. The gear list section automatically categorizes the same type of items together, also allows you to add the total weight of that item (so you can specialize the load if need be). The second section is the plans section such as a day hike plan or a weekend camp out plan. There is an option to change the plan names to whatever you need to, also allowing you to import whatever gear you need for that particular plan. Many plans can be prepared as different situations dictate, or needs dictate. It a great app that every outdoorsman should have in their “tool kit.”
I just returned from a four day trip in the Adirondacks and your app was a literal life saver. We had freezing temps every night and it was critical that each of the five of us had the right gear to get through those long cold nights. The checklist feature was just what we needed. The apps I’ve used in the past have been super clunky. This one is so streamlined and easy to use that I quickly entered every one of the 105 pieces of gear that went on this trip with me. It was super helpful in making weight decisions and for comparing individual pack weights.
I’ve used lighterpack for years, but it really only works properly on a desktop browser. Now I can take my packing list with me on the trail. Love: - ability to import from LighterPack - Easy checklist to add items from my gear list to a new packing list Wish list: - ability to see base weight vs worn weight vs consumables
Just started using but find it spot on. No unnecessary gimmicks just what you need! Simple but precise. Great for campers and a necessity for backpackers. Good job!
I hate that you can only share this via a text file instead of a link option. What’s great about lighterpack is that you can share a link to a gear list with notes and links attached.
