This is a fun app for people who get excited about packing and making lists! Yes, a paper list is going to be easier than an app for most travelers. However, this app is great for those of us who get really excited about packing efficiently. If you enjoy Sarah’s packing videos on youtube, you’ll enjoy this app. A couple tips: 1. Read the instructions to learn how to navigate the app. 2. Instead of putting all of your items into one packing list, create separate lists for each category (clothing, toiletries, etc.). A few shorter lists are easier to manage than one big list. 3. Don’t just stick to the pre-made list. Add your own items and photos - thats the fun part!
Make your own list. You could organize it better. There is no way to organize the list into categories. It’s just random: dress, toothbrush, passport, socks...
I hauled 70 pounds of luggage around the US last Fall so I had everything I needed. Ugh! What a nightmare! After watching a Rick Steve’s video on packing light by the amazing Sarah (who helped design this app) I will finally be able to travel light to Europe! A 20 pound goal !! It’s easy to customize every item I want to take, complete with photo and EXACT weight. Then I check off everything I want to take (in the app) and it totals my weight. Then I start deleting items on the app until I hit the goal weight! Much easier than weighing your suitcase a dozen times or more. Just wish the info on my iPad would share with my phone.
I’ve used this app 2-3 times and I’m amazed at how accurate the weight can be. I like I can personalize it by adding pictures of the clothes, toiletries, etc and even the weight. I have my own packing list but this app helps me to pack light.
this app is a big help. Took me a couple of practice runs to learn how to use it effectively, but now I have a good idea of exactly how much my suitcase and personal item will weigh when completely packed. And that helps me fight the “might need this” additions that result in overpacking. Would like to be able to edit (rearrange) the items in my near-final list, but except for that omission I’m really happy with this app.
Basically the app is a list of possible items to take on a trip depending on travel days and estimated weight of each item. It provides your overall target weight and estimated weight by item. App value is in providing list of potential trip items. Individual item weight is an average (I guess) as people’s sizes are different and some materials weight more than others. A pair of jeans usually weights more than a light weight travel pants but there is no differentiation in the app as it says “pants” only. While marginally useful most of what it offers is easily managed without the app. E.g. decide what you want to take and then weight the bag. If heavier than you would like adjust the items and re-weigh. For a list of possible items to take use common sense or get recommendations from web sites like Rick Steves.
