Description

This application has been developed by an experienced team of paediatricians and neonatologists to provide the user with the advice and tools they will need to manage the most commonly encountered paediatric problems on the postnatal ward.
When a doctor embarks on their first paediatrics rotation covering the postnatal wards they often find that their training and previous experience leave them ill prepared for the task at hand. This is because they will not have encountered the majority of the problems they will be expected to deal with and those that they have dealt with before in adults are often managed very differently in babies. This problem is further confounded by the lack of available resources by which the doctor can increase their knowledge and traditionally this has to be done by on the job learning.
This application attempts to address the above problem by providing the user with three useful resources combined into a single application. The e-book offers practical “hands on” advice on how to deal with the most commonly encountered paediatric problems on the postnatal ward. The advice offered represents the results of a thorough literature review combined with the pooled experience of the authors. At the end of each topic there are a number of links to sources of further reading.
The audiovisual section contains a number of useful videos and audio presentations by experienced neonatologists on important topics such as how to carry out a newborn check, jaundice and hypoglycaemia.
Finally, the calculators section contains a number of useful tools that will help you workout an infants feeding requirements or calculate their need for phototherapy.

Very useful app. It is clear, concise and incredibly helpful on the postnatal ward. Not only does it help with management of problems on the ward, but also with explanations to parents and midwives 5/5

Great app. I use it all the time.

I'm a Paeds ST1 and find I use this app loads when working on the neonate side. Many useful features. A few extra things I'd like to see are: Tube size calculator - ET tubes size and length based on gestation and also UVC and UAC calculators. It would also be good have the ability to alter the feeding requirements calculator based on local guidelines (we use 60ml/kg/d then 90ml/kg/d for example).

Amazing!

Practical guide to managing paeds

As a medical student i found this app extremely useful. I used the ebook section it like an OHCM for many of the common clinical conditions and the audio and video lectures were great when travelling to and from placements to get in a sneaky bit of learning. This is definitely one of my most useful reference and studying tools.

Top Class Application

A great combination of content within a single application. I liked how the text was supported with pictures, video and audio presentations, there where links to related material on the internet (the internal browse was great idea ... I did not have to leave the application to view any external links). The calculators will be useful and are easy to use. Overall a top class application ... well worth the money
