Panopto

I like being able to access my university’s recorded lectures from my mobile device. However, I have a few issues with the app. 1.) button placement and screen sensitivity issues, it may be just my phone needing calibration, but often times when I go to PAUSE the video, the video skips to the middle of the screen as if I was tapping the duration bar. This makes me lose my place in the video. I wish the pause button was further away from the bar. 2.) I would like to see captions in the space underneath the video when the phone is held in profile view. 3.) I would like to be able to manage my folder subscriptions from my phone instead of only the desktop website. 4.) I’ve also had issues with the Audio and video being out of sync when pausing or navigating the video forward or back.

The app is glitchy and basically unusable. My school records classes on Panopto. When you play on the app, the sound often doesn’t align. If you reopen a recording you already started watching, the video will open where you left off but the sound will start from the beginning and it’s impossible to realign. This makes the app unusable. Panopto is a tech service. There is no excuse to have a mobile app this bad. I plan to encourage my school to switch providers.

It’s better than nothing but the blatant bugs result in so much wasted time. The desktop version functions perfectly. Is it just one developer who isn’t great with apps or what? For such simple functions (selecting and watching videos—literally that’s it), I dont see an excuse for it to work so poorly.

The playback screen is incredibly sensitive, I find it difficult to pause the video and return to where I was without having skipping 10 minutes into the video. Very annoying, needs to be fixed. Also incorporating the date to where each video was made would be a nice feature.

Do yall not care enough about this app to make it actually functional??

7/10 times I go on the app, the projector screen is black while the classroom camera screen works fine. Also, when I try to skip through the video, one screen would freeze while the audio syncs with the time skip. I prefer to use the browser version

Every single time without fail that I open this app to review lectures for school, there is always a glitch or error that occurs if you pause, skip ahead any amount or try to go back on videos. Most common being the audio and video not syncing at all, always being at drastically different parts of the video from eachother. The only way to avoid bugs is to close the app, reset your phone, and watch a video from the very beginning without interacting with it at all. We are using this app for school, we pause and move around different sections of the video to learn at our own pace or to stop and take notes. The fact everytime I open this app it feels like the equivalent of driving a beat up car that'll break down any second is unacceptable. I have never, ever encountered a video streaming service on any website or phone for the past 2 decades that has this level of bugs and errors. Please do better. Every single review on this app is telling you the same thing. It is a simple issue to fix. There is no reason why streaming and video services from 2005 worked better than this app in 2024. Although thinking anything will change despite the reviews is wishful thinking. Surely this company receives their paycheck from our universities funded by us students at the end of the day regardless of how garbage this service is.

Literally doesn’t work most of the time. Glitchy at the best of times.

Just after 2 days of usage I have already encountered a plethora of bugs and issues. Did you miss something? Don’t dare rewind or the entire video player goes into an infinite loading screen. But don’t try closing the app and restarting or you will break the display. Often, the video will start 20 minutes in, but the audio will stay delayed. Miserable experience, do better

This is hands down worst app I have had the displeasure to interact with for educational purposes. I hope that schools see these reviews and drop these no-good developers and bring somebody who knows how to build an app. I’ve had so many issues and frustrations with this while viewing my online classes: 1. At random times, one of the videos stops showing (most of the time it’s the screen sharing… arguably the important piece) 2. If you stop a video in the middle, when you come back to it, one of two things will happen to you: - you won’t be able to see one of the screens (most likely the important one) - the tracking progress bar on the video thinks it’s picked up where you left off, but the video actually started from the beginning. In which case you cannot navigate through it, because it’s all out of whack. 3. Sometimes audio just stops working and you need to restart the app.
