parkrun Virtual Volunteer Reviews

Virtual Volunteer APP

The Split button is too big and when touching by accident one can not rectify error. Split touch switch should be smaller and a on off function or active.

Parkrun timer app

Westcoast101p on

South Africa

As a volunteer I’ve used this app several times. In general it works great ! The only negative is that the touch area is too large and close to the edge of your phone. This makes it easy to by mistake, touch the screen and add a unwanted time. Making the touch area slightly smaller with a border should resolve this problem. Also a function to remove the last time entered, should help incase above happens.

Screen sensitivity.

4x4ster on

South Africa

This is a nice application but I have found one disadvantage. That is the whole bottom of the screen is touch sensitive. So in holding the iPhone or iPad it is possible to inadvertently touch the edge of the screen leading to accidental recording of times. Is it possible to modify the app so that there is a button icon on the screen that does not extend to the edge of the screen? I see that the volume buttons on my iPad can be used to record split time so the iPad can be used like a normal stop watch but this does not elevate the touch sensitivity problem.

Massive bug in timing with volume buttons

RachaelHolmes on

United Kingdom

If you start the app and then change the volume before starting the timer, tapping the screen to start the time will add additional times. If you then use the volume buttons to log times it will occasional add or no times; Up -> 1 time logged Up -> 0 times logged Down -> 2 times logged Down -> 1 time logged Down -> 2 times logged This can mess up results horribly!

Multiple clicks removal

philwjones on

United Kingdom

I’ve timekept a lot of parkruns. The older watches were more tactile and less prone to multiple or accidental clicks than phones. Given this, I’d ask that a feature is added to allow timekeepers to slide over an accidental entry and remove it. I know the results processor can sort this out in post, but keeping in sync with the tokens and fellow timekeepers is important. Note that I had emailed parkrun HQ a while back about this and had no response.

Very well designed app

This app is pretty perfect…very simple interface that is appropriate as thousands of people will use it without much training or explanation. For scanning, it basically doesn’t let you make a mistake of which item to scan first, thereby avoiding errors. Haptic feedback is perfect, and the scanner works very well across different materials…wrinkled paper, screens, rubber wrist bands, etc. Very well suited to its function

I used this for the first time a couple of weeks ago for barcode scanning and had zero problems. Faultless!

Only used it once so far for barcode scanning at a junior event but it worked perfectly.

IOS 15 issues

Rroooggbv on

United Kingdom

I have an iPhone 11 pro and use the volunteer app without a problem. When timekeeping I start the run and then close the iPhone to prevent mistakes. As the runners finish I open the iPhone and open the app and I use the volume button to record the individual times. I have now updated to IOS 15 and today I was unable to use the app in the usual way. The volume button couldn’t be used to record the times, I was only able to use the touchscreen to input the time. Has anyone else experienced the same issue?
