Electron

ray2go on

Australia

I love my Electron. I had to learn to program it, bug once I did, I just worked, and still does, every time. I must post my project somewhere, but I don’t know where to do it.

Does the job quite well

Gets a Particle Photon or Electron onto a wifi network. I wish I could use it to write and edit code - that would be cool.

Please add iPad support

devvinu on

United States

Basic functionality works in low res, not a native ipad app. I like particle products, would be great to have an iPad app with full functionality of web IDE, event monitor etc. built in!!

Barely functional interface with minimal usage

Overzeetop on

United States

Update - After finding that the Tinker functionality is not robustly implemented in the hardware, and the apps failure to recognize incompatible installation may actually be a firmware shortcoming, I'm adding a couple stars back. I still think this app is very limited as it doesn't allow any debugging, upgrading, flashing, or recovery for devices.

No t402 support

hateslack on

United States

Does not seem to support the t402 tracker module. But then the Web IDE does not support the module either.

Why Remove your best feature?

jaylay23 on

United States

The only reason I used this app was because it would display my devices WAN IP address ( I don’t have a static ISP), so I could ssh easily into my devices without needing to come up with a third party way of figuring out my WAN address. Why take this out??

Junk

Morwic on

United States

The product is junk bewhere you can’t remove a credit card from their system there is absolutely zero support and the CEO is a wet noodle..

Don’t buy the Mesh edition yet.

AlbertMartin on

United States

Don’t buy the Mesh edition yet. They “push” these devices after struggling with production and seems they did not do the appropriated testing. There are many problems when creating the mesh network and the apps fails miserably during the mesh setup. Only works fine for the Photon version.

Does well what it’s meant to do

Useful for quick checkup of online devices or for setting up a new device. I wish it has some options for saving latest published messages or for creating a custom interfaces using cloud functions. Looking forward for more features from Particle’s awesome team.

Super terrible, why do we need this?

Chip Bobbert on

United States

This app is brutally bad. I’ve setup numerous photons in my student lab and frequently it just doesn’t work and nothing you can do will make it connect. There’s no diagnostics readily apparent. You’ll be quick to get a fail message but have no idea why. I suppose it wouldn’t really matter if they did give you a reason as no tools exist to correct it. There’s basically no desktop support either. If you want to configure this you’ll be getting into terminal and hombrew. I setup about a dozen of these per semester and one or two simply won’t connect to the app. I can’t for the life of me figure out why I keep buying these things.
