How much does Pencil Bible cost?
Pencil Bible has several in-app purchases/subscriptions, the average in-app price is €18.29.
First off, I love the concept behind this app, truly. And I am thankful to the developers for making this app for people who want to study God’s Word in a traditional way with a nifty device. However, without zoom capability I feel as though the app is very hard for me to use. I like to be neat with my writing, but in order for me to be neat I have to write fairly large on my iPad screen. If I had the ability to scroll I would be able to write large and not take up a bunch of space per page, and the experience would be 100 times better. I’m disappointed because I bought the lifetime access and yet I now feel as though the app is useless, literally only because of the fact that its missing zoom. Please give ear to this and add this simple feature in so that I can adequately use the app :(
Updated review
You came along a bit since the last time I tried the app, glad to see you are getting more bible versions. Love the dark mode. Writing pencils and highlighters are primitive but satisfactory. This is great for journaling, note taking, highlighting. I am seeing growth, and there is so much potential here! Money isn’t a deterrent for me, and money I spend to draw near to God is a good investment in my eyes, but still not enough to pull me from my other bible app. My other app lacks the ability to write in the margin or a side page and that is what keeps me drawing me back to check on the app, but the other app offers a lot of study tools like Strong’s, commentaries, dictionaries, cross reference, more bible versions, the ability to study multiple versions side by side or to swap back and forth. it also is a costly app but again that is not a deterrent for me personally and I have a lot of money invested in the other app already so to leave it at this point I still the more options. Keep going, this app is still the only one I have found that allows writing with my I pencil in a nice wide margin and I can’t tell you how much I love that feature!
Please help.
Please help it wont work for drawing or anything. it still dont work. Ive tried everything you can think of, restarting the ipad. And deleting tha app over and over. Everything it wont work. Please help.
Good so far - room to improve - too expensive
The ease of use and visual aesthetics of the app are really nice. And in the short time I’ve use it it gets the job done. But considering some missing features that I think are essential and how this app is priced, I can’t give it more than a passing review. You have to pay $10 for each of the more popular translations and if you’re someone who likes to switch between translations you have to pay for each one. On top of paying for translations that most people would use, to make notes on more than 10 chapters, you have to subscribe and either pay $60 one time or $30 yearly (there are more options but you get the jest). Seems a little pricy imo. In terms of missing features, switching between landscape and portrait is a little clunky. You have to wait a couple of seconds for the screen to reload (with a loading bar and everything). In landscape mode the amount of blank space you have is often more than you actually have. Meaning if you draw outside of a marked area, it will not carry the image over if you switched back to portrait. The result is it feels like a lot of waisted horizontal space which is kinda of the point of switching to landscape orientation. My biggest gripe, though, is that many drawing apps allow you to erase or undo an action by tapping with two fingers or double tapping with two fingers. It is a little annoying to have to go all the way to the eraser and back again to the pen to undo a small mistake. BUT overall it’s a nice app. A little expensive, but it gets the job done.
I love it
I love the way the app is set up but I wish it had the NKJV.
Crashes every time
I really want to use this app, but every time I open it, it just closes right back instantly. I have no idea what’s wrong. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling, turning it off and on again, searching Google, but I’m not finding anything that will help the app to open. Any advice?
Only 2 bookmarks?
For some reason, it only ever shows up to 2 of my bookmarks…? I like to read in multiple places every day, so it’s much more difficult to navigate then other bible apps currently. Hoping that this is a bug that will get fixed soon!!!
It’s a ok app for the Bible
I love almost everything with this app. The biggest thing I don’t like is that they give you 3 versions of the Bible. Granted one of the versions if the king James. However for a version like NIV which is commonly used as the standard now they require you to pay $10 which is not ok with me. This is the Bible and they are charging too much for it. I understand they need to make money somehow but this isn’t the way.
Scam
You get a bible but they only allow you to annotate 10 chapters before they charge you a monthly subscription. Who wants to pay to make reminders of things you find in the Word. No way!
