If you have a fear of loud noises (Phonophobia) or medical condition (such as Misophonia or Hyperacusis). The treatment is often desensitization.
Desensitization is the method of slowly building up a tolerance to something. This is where Phonophobia Pal comes in. By listening to a sound and gently increasing volume over time this can be achieved.
The app works by guiding you through the process of:
- Setting your volume to the correct level
- Creating a playlist
- Setting a duration for your desensitization session
- Allowing you to start, pause, or stop the session, or skip certain tracks
We've included over 100 built in sounds for you to desensitize yourself too. If we don't have a particular sound you want, you can record your own.
The built in sounds include:
- Alarms (car, fire engines, etc)
- Animals (dogs barking, cats, etc)
- Electronics (camera, fan, microwave, etc)
- Fireworks
- Home and Garden (door bell, chain saw, etc)
- Human (argument, crying baby, etc)
