For some reason, the developer has made it so you can’t specify the folder path when configuring SMB credentials. Since I don’t have a /home/ folder in my path, I can’t configure a folder. When I asked support about this, they told me to simply delete the app as they don’t support that. It’s wild that such a small and weird thing - typing in a form field - renders an otherwise promising app totally unusable.

The app works incredibly well. Periodically I have to copy all of my wife’s photos to a backup drive and it takes a while when there are tens of thousands of pictures. With this I’m able to make sure they are always backed up at home. I didn’t see this in the description, but this won’t work without WiFi. Even if you have a VPN into your home network it won’t attempt the transfer. Background transfers take a while. If you start a sync manually and exit the app it will timeout. You either have to wait for the manual to finish, or the automatic sync to eventually catch up. This was really only a problem when I first turned the app on. Everything else though is great. There’s a ton of customization and it’s reliable for me. Thanks for writing an app so I didn’t have to!
Does what it says it will do
The various apps in ASUS’s ai suite are not as simple and clean as, say, iTunes or iCloud or Google Drive. This Backup app, however, works perfectly! It runs in the background of my iOS devices and quietly uploads all my photos and videos. It is very quick and efficient! I bought the lifetime license and it has been worth every penny! This app backed up about 3700 photos and videos in ... about 40+/- minutes, which is far faster than what aiphoto or aidata could have done. All thumbs up for this app!
