Pinnacle Climb Log Reviews
Love it! But missing few features, and found some bugs…
Love the app! I started using it few weeks ago and already stole my heart. What I think is missing:
- web console to lookup stuff on computer or tablet without the need to install app
- ability to add photos/videos to session (if there is such feature, it’s located in a place I wasn’t able to find
- ability to do interval training, would be great if in the middle of a workout I could say „I want to do intervals now, vibrate my watch 2 minutes after I log ascent/finish rep”
Bugs:
- on iPhone 13 running iOS 17 “share image” saves blank, white image, no content
- adding notes: open existing session, tap on input to add notes, type some thing and hit “done”, note is empty, hit “workouts” to go back, return again to same session, note content is there
Excellent App
The only things this app are missing is the ability to say if you failed a bouldering and a rest timer. When I am on a V3, it can take me multiple tries to get it right. I would prefer to log it as a failed attempt rather than a success. I would also love a rest timer. I could have a rest timer for failed and one for success. That way I am not sitting around for 5 plus minutes resting. It’ll give me a gentle beep to say let’s get back to it.
Amazing app!
Pretty disappointing app but its the only one for apple watch
This app has the potential to be so much better but it seems like the developer has not made any meaningful improvements since launch. This app is good for logging grades, seeing heart rate, and has great Strava integration. This app is supposed to log your climbing location but it has never logged the climbing location correctly(either missing or logged as another state). Its pretty disappointing that this is pretty much all a paid app offers when a free app RedPoint, used to offer all that and so much more. RedPoint would record where (gym, outdoor crag) you climbed and how far you climbed (by measuring distance climbed) and the app would also automatically record climbs after each ascent/descent. These features no longer work on RedPoint after a iOS update. I paid for the Pinnacle app thinking it would have the same features but it is extremely bare bones and not very helpful to a training regiment. I have seen reviews for Pinnacle with users suggesting these missing features since 5 years ago but the developer has not added any of the features to the app. At this point, paying for the Pinnacle app means you are essentially paying for a fancy climbing themed notebook to log your grades.
App will not download on WatchOS 8.8.1
Bought this app a few weeks ago, the app will not download onto my Apple Watch that runs WatchOS 8.8.1. I've reached out to the developer through the suggested outlets but have not heard anything back for 2 weeks. Not sure if the app is broken for older watches but everything else downloads fine on my watch. Hopefully this gets changed in the future but for now be aware of you use an older watch.
Fun, simple way to log climbs
This is way more fun than just turning on an open climbing workout in Apple’s Workout app. I like having the graph of what I’ve done each workout. I’m also glad I can see my heart rate during a climb, which helps me realize when I need to take a rest instead of pushing through.
I had some issues initially, but I contacted the developer and they asked me to reboot my Watch, which I had not done since installing the app. That fixed all the problems I was having. No crashes, syncing afterwards works well, etc. Now I am confident in recommending this app.
Great app, missing some features
I liked the app and it's pretty easy to use.
Need some more basic features like easy to mark a climb a flash or repeat along with report on how many were flashed in a session and what is current flash level etc.
Current way of marking a climb a flash is quite cumbersome.
great app but recent update broke it?
i love this app for tracking my climbs but i updated the app yesterday and now when i go to open it, it just shows a black screen. nothing will load ):
App has bugs after update
App was working shortly after download but after last update when I click Stats the app crashes every time. Also lost a full session on my watch due to app having black screen when trying to open and had to reinstall app to get it to work again.
Will be happy to give 5 stars if fixed!
Great with some feedback
Updated 1/13/23: Where did the widget go?!?
Love this app but what I would love more is if it asked you before you completed a session. My boyfriend and I have both accidentally finished a session before we meant to and it’s a pain to edit it manually for each climb afterwards. Also, if there was a way to prompt you if you haven’t added a climb in a while that would be great. I frequently forget to finish a session and then have to stop it a few days later when I climb again messing up the data. Otherwise, I love this app. Having it on the widget screen is really really helpful.
Perfect Climbing App
Integrations work seamlessly. Easy to use and has just the metrics and note taking I need.
