This is an absolutely alluring, nuanced, well-constructed jRPG that exudes charm. It is a great, well-paced journey across many lands, a game with its own idiosyncrasies, and hearkens back to a time when jRPGs were simple, yet complex; isolated, though expansive; when their story and gameplay compelled you to delve deeper into their lore. I keep returning to the word ‘charming’, merely because I haven’t had this much fun in a game in quite some time. Not only is there obvious respect for its precedents, but the developer has added their own twists and evolutions to create an absolutely unique, enjoyable experience, one that has many of the highlights of the genre (plentiful loot and equipment, quick levelling, atmospherically different zones, casual side quests, and little-to-no grinding).
Edit: As I have progressed further in the game, the more its polished, well-crafted gameplay reveals itself. Each subsequent area is distinctly its own, and the more characters that get recruited offer an extensive opportunity to manipulate your team to your choosing (with specific sections offering a difficulty that requires a strategic line-up). The writing has remained humorous and pithy, the story has developed briskly, and most importantly, it has been hitherto an enjoyable, leisurely adventure.
Would be nice to have iCloud support
Otherwise very good, easy to pick up and play
Just what I needed
I’m always looking for good side battlers and this gets it right in so many ways.
Pros:
Typical but short story. No drawn out boring streams of text.
Amazing mechanics from the simple but effective stat system to the quick friendly interface. Nothing is wasted or excessive.
Fast flashy battles.
Such thoughtful variety of characters and ability sets. So many different possibilities for teams. Again, nothing feels wasted or left out. All characters have value in some situation.
Satisfying mix of relic abilities.
Great endgame content. I found myself leveling everyone to 100 and maxing out all the end level gear to +3 (did you notice the color scheme for item strength?) so I could squeeze that little extra power and push one more floor of the dark tower.
Cons:
character acquisition is too spread out. Should confine to first half of game. (Although this doesn’t matter for endgame stuff)
The ultimate spear falls flat with its special bonus.
Wish list:
Adjustable auto play feature
Adjustable load outs for teams so I don’t have to constantly strip and rearm my characters.
MORE LEVELS AND GEAR PLEEEASE! In other words, more game!!
Absolutely one of my all time favorite games.
Graphics, gameplay everything is perfect. I cannot express enough how much I love this game. The only complaint I have is I want to revert my icon to the old one this one is childish and I don't like it. 20/10 stars though. Again I LOVE THIS GAME. The amazing character choices is next to none. I guess I could say I wish the game was based around 6 party members there are so many cool ones I have to beat the game many times over with them all so I guess I get more out of the game this way. Ninja is always my starter.
Edit: Can we get an option to slow down the battle speed? It makes it not as fun because you don't even get to see much animation the battling feels rushed and I just love this game so much I hate to dislike something crucial for me about it.
love it
it'd be nice if you could select a certain attack for each character to have pre-selected (just to speed along wild encounters (with AoE attacks)) but other than that I haven't wanted for anything in this game
So Refreshing
I love how mobile oriented this game is. Very easy to pick up and play. Characters in your pool all level up with your team and auto saves are very frequent. Love it
Highly entertaining mobile rpg
I’m tremendously impressed with the thought that went into how this game plays on a mobile device. It autosaves your progress frequently. The battles move quickly and even boss fights can be easily completed “on mobile time”.
I really enjoy the traditional turn based “jrpg” gameplay. You can recruit a wide variety of party members that all have different attacks and abilities. My one wish would be that characters “on the bench” would earn exp like the active party. There are many interesting characters but I only used a few given no one else was leveled.
Can’t wait for the final chapter!
Amazing
Great game with depth and story! Perfect to keep us all sane during the quarantine lockdown! Great job Developers and team!! Please keep the updates coming.
Really easy to get, and has a lot of replay-ability
Makes you want create multiple characters but also has a robust number of classes that you pick up in game to still make it feel like you have a lot of choices to play one game
What I’m Looking For
This game gets right what say many RPGs on this platform just miss. The interface is snappy, you get into the action quick, there is a good balance in customization and collection. If I had one “request” for the developer, it would be to develop a portrait orientation for the game. Granted, this is likely no small ask, but this game is so playable and charming, I would love to be able to play it with one hand while walking or eating a hamburger
