Plain flashcards Reviews

Finally a basic flashcard app!

I love this app. Very simple. I can use text and pictures, study front or back first, make multiple decks and navigate using simple swipes. I don’t need bells and whistles. I just want to study flashcards in this app does exactly that. And it’s free with no annoying ads.

Works well

Very helpful. Love the add photo option. Easy to remember commands. Wish there was a way to donate something to the developer cuz it all free. I recommend.

Nice and simple…maybe too simple

Very nice app. One problem I have which means I need to use another app is that it only shuffles the cards. I need the option to go through every card in sequence. If you don’t need that, this may be the perfect app for you.

This is awesome!

This was exactly what I was looking for—a simple and easy way to create swipe cards so I could train my brain with what I want to focus on

Plain & Simple Awesomeness!

Plain Flashcards is exactly what a flash card quiz style app should be. Very easy to set up. Text has 3 size settings. Playback of cards has 3 speed settings. Testing intervals can be set for daily, weekly, monthly. Testing intervals can also be set to exponentially increase the number of cards used for testing. Or simply set a normal linear number (1,2,3,4,etc.) for testing by day, week or month. Includes adjustable goal setting for number of cards to complete per day, week or month. Notifications can be turned on for reminders. I find the best feature is ability to include an image to the backside of the flash card. So answers can be text, image or BOTH. There is also a "translation" feature that can be enabled. This includes translation direction settings to choose a "From" language and "To" language. I assume this is for language learning.

This is what I was looking for, Simple, easy to use

A decent minimalistic note card app with two flaws

Issue one: Why on earth can’t you delete a card? Issue two: it auto shuffles the deck every time you open it. I don’t want this feature and would love an option to disable it. I lean by working on one card, then adding a second, and a third. Then after say 3 or so, I’ll go back to the beginning and go through the cards again. I’ll maybe do this a 3rd time before adding a new card to learn. This method helps me memorize better. If during this process you leave the deck, well it’s gonna scramble the order you were learning in. Overall, however, no ads is awesome. This is nearly a perfect app. UPDATE: finally found out how to delete a card. You have to click on “edit dock”, then click on “cards” and find the card you want to delete, then swipe to delete. Shouldn’t be so many steps, but whatever it works. I upped my 3 star to 4 star rating.

Needs Search Function

This app has almost everything I need for language flashcards. It has a nice simple interface and doesn’t lag when I add new cards. The automatic translation feature is amazing - when it works, which is about one session every couple weeks. The app is also missing a search and list function, so I create a lot of duplicate cards and can’t reference a specific card when I’d like to. If those 3 features were fixed, this would be the most perfect simple language flashcards app on the market, but without lists, search or a consistently working translator it’s not very useful.
