Refreshing as a breath of fresh air.❤️🙏
It saved my life.
Excellent, intuitive design. Accessible audio and text. Hold your phone sideways for the correct line breaks. I’m not sure if it’s default night-mode, but the white text on black is really nice. Love the downloadable issues! They’ve perfected the format of monthly publication on a phone. Maybe even nicer than a physical mag! Controversial, but i LOVE the audio recordings of people reading their poems. 10/10 excellent work!
App stopped downloading new issues starting January 2023. I paid for a subscription in the App Store through April 2023. Developer (Poetry Magazine) says they don’t support app subscriptions purchased in the App Store. I spent over two hours with Apple Support trying to trouble shoot, with no success. I was not willing to spend any more time trying to resolve, and asked Apple to process a refund for the unused subscription. The agent didn’t seem to be able to process a refund. I would suggest a print subscription by mail if you want a reliable method to subscribe.
I used to love the spin feature for the app. What happened to that?
I loved The Poetry Foundation’s very first app with the revolving poem finder. It was amazing. It centered the poems, the work, then the poets, THEN the publication. I didn’t have to wade through editions of the publication to try to find a poem. IT WAS THERE. NOW, I am confronted by the publication, by ribbons of words so badly laid out that the poems are lost in the stacks of publication issues. It puts me off poetry and using The Poetry Foundation as a way to explore it. Recover that application. Update it. Put the editions online via your website where people can peruse to their heart’s content. As it is, this new-to-me app hides the poetry and the poets by placing the publication first. It’s a disaster.
The best poetry app.
I love the poetry but would like to see more diversity in contributors. I should because there are barrels of poets from everywhere. I don’t expect you to present lowbrow or poorly constructed poetry, but if you use ignore New or modernist styles, you will miss diversifying your mag because many writers out there are creative and clever in different manners, etc. They are writing differently than 19th century, etc. The Podcast is great and a marvelous idea. I love it. Joyce
Poetry Magazine is not an antidote nor an alternative. It is the over shadow – – of the hard creepy news of the day. Having it as an app on my phone allows me to look like a normal android human being mutant, and yet while I stare at a mineral-based screen, I am reading poems. Thank my lucky stars.
