Great device to ensure we can monitor our power needs and adjust accordingly.

Exactly what you need to understand power consumption

We got Powerpal to build a submeter for a tenancy and within the first week of operating, we identified the hot water system as the main consumer of electricity. We then installed Powerpal on the main meter as well to see what we do. The beauty of Powerpal is that it shows you consumption as it happens and gives you the history in an easy to understand format. Where you waste your money becomes easily obvious.

Great app but not so good range

I love the product but I have to walk closer to my fusebox to get it to update. My house is about 30m from my meter. A different product had no problem with this distance but I was told this one should work fine. So I can never see real time usage. It does store the data and downloads it if I walk 20 metres away from the house. Frustrating.

Works well.

This Power-pal app presents very well and is easily intuitive. The screens respond quickly and it always has a positive connection with the Bluetooth link. I find it very useful and better than another similar device that I’d used previously. It’s supplied free too.

Great asset

It sounded too good to be true but it really isn’t. Being able to check my usage, including usage for individual applications, has made a real difference to my power bill. And when, after several years, my PowerPal went on strike, a competent and efficient service rep was here very shortly after ( Fixed it in five minutes)! And it costs me nothing.

Excellent device. I find it to be very helpful in managing power usage. Also technical support is definitely 5 stars.

Simple & Effective Power Monitor App

Blueberry one on

I purchased the Powerpal kit. It arrived promptly. Installation instructions were included and a link to a video. I found installing into my meter box very straightforward. The App loaded onto my iPhone and was easy to set up. You do need information to assist in that process so have your most recent electricity supplier bill at hand. You can customise the app to suit your household and test individual appliances to better understand their energy use. This requires turning appliances on and off while monitoring the power use. One issue that should be resolved is the app will only run on one device at a time, (due to Bluetooth priority) so set it up on a phone or tablet you use frequently. It takes about a week to get a pattern of use showing and energy can be measured in a dollar/day or KwHs. I have a solar system but as far as I can see there is no measure of the amount of power I am exporting to the grid on a daily basis. I do get that from my energy supplier when their 90 day account arrives though. Overall I’m pleased with the functions and graphics. If you put in your National Meter # (NRMI) you can see current costs per KwH and compare to your energy company.

Battery life

Powerpal works brilliantly. However the batteries go flat after a couple of years. The app should include an alert. I wasted time going through the troubleshooting. Getting a new unit was easy. Pity you can’t just change the batteries yourself instead of throwing the unit away
