The PowerX chargers are fairly dependable and generally deliver a high amperage efficiently. My two improvements would be (1) deliver a higher maximum, and (2) make it easier to stop and resume. For (1), there are plenty of cars that can take a higher amperage. The Hyundai IONIQ 5 can take 150kW or more (although the Japanese versions have been limited). If PowerX could deliver that much, IONIQ 5 owners could push Hyundai to fix the s/w and allow faster charging. On (2), some cars give a “boost” during charging which allows a higher amperage for the first few minutes. The IONIQ 5, for example, will accept 102kW for the first 8 minutes of charging, after which it drops to 82kW. At a PowerX charger I can stop and resume, to get more minutes at 102kW, but it’s clunky and time-consuming. I’d like PowerX to give us a one-touch stop/resume to make this easier. My only complaint with PowerX is that on two occasions there have been problems with the charger and the people who answer the Help Line are utterly clueless. In fact they are worse than clueless because they don’t even understand the basics of EVs and charging. PowerX needs to put some smart people on the help line, or at least make it so a smart person can call back a customer rapidly. On the one occasion I got a call from someone who knew what they were talking about, it took three days. That’s unacceptable for a service that drivers expect to avail as easily as pumping gas into an old-fashioned car.
