We invented mixer control via iPad®. Since then, millions of events, concerts, and studio sessions have been mixed remotely thanks to our boundary-pushing engineers. We put all our experience and expertise into designing the most intuitive and powerful remote-mixing software in the industry, and PreSonus Universal Control is the result. Designed to provide immediate access to everything you need when controlling your mix, while being instantly familiar, Universal Control will revolutionize the way you mix—by giving you the freedom to control your favorite PreSonus device from anywhere your wireless network can reach.
Compatible hardware includes:
● StudioLive Series III console and rack mixers
● Quantum-series audio interfaces
● Revelator-series microphones and audio interfaces
● Studio-series audio interfaces
Note: StudioLive AI and RM mixers should still continue to work as usual in this app, but are no longer officially supported. No further work is planned for the AI mixer series in this app.
Read on to discover what Universal Control can do for your PreSonus hardware!
StudioLive mixers (Series III and AI-series)
Universal Control (formerly UC Surface) provides touch-control of your complete mix, plus: dynamics, EQ control, effects, monitor mixes, DCA groups, and even AVB networking and routing.
You also get control of deeper features like Scenes, Projects, and granular permission control—including max output level limit!
Most importantly, Universal Control can directly control your StudioLive mixer using a WiFi network without the need to connect a computer.
Quantum-series interfaces
Quantum ES- and HD-series USB audio interface users can create complete monitor mixes, control loopback streams, and even control speaker switching all from Universal Control. For Quantum-series Thunderbolt interface owners, Universal Control offers you remote preamp control (on supported models) and a real-time analyzer.
Requires a computer connected via USB or Thunderbolt and a WiFi network.
Studio-series audio interfaces
For owners of Studio 1810, 1810c, 1824, and 1824c audio interfaces, Universal Control offers powerful zero-latency hardware-based monitor control; everything you need to create high-quality monitor mixes and more. Studio 192 and 192 Mobile users will find controls for the onboard Fat Channel processing as well, plus preamp gain, speaker switching, plus main-mix mono and dim functions.
Requires a computer connected via USB and a WiFi network.
Revelator-series microphones and interfaces
Get complete touch-control of your Revelator product’s gain, presets, scenes, Fat Channel processing settings, and loopback mixer. Great for when you need to make adjustments during a podcast or livestream and can’t switch applications on your desktop workstation.
Requires a computer connected via USB and a WiFi network.
System Requirements
Compatible with iPads running iOS 11.4 or later.
Control of supported mixers requires that the mobile device running be connected to the same wireless network as a StudioLive Series III mixer.
Control of supported PreSonus audio interfaces and USB microphones requires that the mobile device be connected to the same wireless network as a computer running Universal Control for macOS and Windows, with the audio interface or USB microphone connected to the computer.

Works great
We pretty much only use this app to run our Studiolive 32SX. All features work perfectly and almost always have for a few years now. We don’t ever have anyone sit in front of the mixer board ever. Usually two volunteers controlling two separate mixes during weekly live events.
Doesn’t work
The app continually prompts me for access password. When I enter it, I am not granted access to the mixer—most of the time. It seems nondeterministic. Disappointing.
Best mobile app
Very well laid out and easy to navigate! The new user layer is great! It was the last missing piece of the puzzle.
UC Surface 4.0 not ready for prime time
Ever since my iPad automatically updated to version 4 of the app, I’ve had problems with stability and reliability with my personas revelator I owe 24. I was forced to update the firmware on the Revelator to continue using the app, which was a bad idea. Version 1.27 has definite issues. I have rolled back the firmware on the hardware to version 1.21, but now I can’t figure out how to roll back to the prior version of UC surface on iOS so I can start using the app again.
Cover Band
We use this app to mix a 4 piece band thru the Studio Live 24R.
It always works great on various iPad used by the band.
The fact that you don’t need a huge mixer, snake, etc…is amazing.
Good concept, terrible execution.
If you intend to use this with the Revelator io44, don’t waste your time. This is an incredibly buggy app that will just cause you frustration. Sometimes it opens missing part of the graphics, buttons randomly remain inactive, others remain stuck. I have never seen such poor coding. apparently no one bothered to properly test it. Having had some experience with this company, I will venture to guess they won’t bother to fix it for quite some time, if at all.
No option
I open up the app is says I need to update, then just send me to a blank screen. The app that you download from the website works but this app doesn’t. Don’t make an app if it doesn’t work. I would rate this -5 stars if I could.
battery hog
simply put, the app shouldn't drain my iPad pro completely before the end of a 90 minute set off the charger, walking the venue.
StudioLive 24.4.2ai
Every time I save a scene using the app it saves it as a brand new scene at the end of the list. This bug is so annoying because the only work around is to save the scene locally to my iPad. Please fix this presonus! It’s been going on for about 2 years!
Demo Crashes App
Was hoping to learn the mixer using this app. I see from posts this has been an issue since 2017. Good luck.
