Presto Music Reviews

Excellent classical service. App needs to catch up imo

I love the enormous range of classical music available. I’ve been using the app for a while and it’s great to have such an enormous library available so readily. Good value. The app - I can’t create my own playlists, which seems a quite a fundamental flaw.

Good layout and search but room for improvement

I thought I should update my review now that I have used Presto Streaming for nearly a year. I love the clean tidy layout of the app, and the various ways to find music are ideal for classical music, including by label which is such a treat. Some inconsistencies though - why not able to sort/filter my collection by composer, genre, etc, why only grid view in new releases. I discovered something today though. also have an Apple Music subs at present and I offlined an album which is the equivalent of 5 cds at 24 bit 96kHz and it takes up about 4gb on my iPad. The same album (with highest quality set in the app) in Presto Streaming only takes up about 312mb - unlikely. And I can say the sound quality playing this from the Presto app is poor, although bizarrely my DAC still says it’s getting 96kHz. Can’t explain it but I can hear it. However I did get one of the Presto Music Streamer puck and I love it. I have connected it via optical to my hifi system and it performs flawlessly and the sound is fantastic. The iOS app is a great remote and a joy to use, improved maybe by my comments above re general navigation and filtering etc.

Airplaying is a such pain

Regret to have to unsubscribe due to broken airplay connections all the time. Please integrate the streaming with smart speakers to provide a better experience. Thank you!

Almost wonderful

Eastindies on

Music beautifully and very intelligently curated. What I’d hoped Apple Classical might be. No Chromecast (yet) means no hi-res streaming. Also no way of playing on a Mac. Fix that and it’s almost perfect.

Finally works while the screen is sleeping

Version 2.8.0 finally works with the screen sleeping. Well done developers. Now 5 stars👏👏👏

Good App, works well …

… but v2.8 won’t let me save my most recent CD purchase offline to mi iphone 13 mini running iOS 16.5.1. The button is present but not active.

A hidden gem - but please fix the iPad version

Lost intransitive on

United Kingdom

Excellent in many ways, but a significant and frustrating issue on iPads with face recognition is that when playing an album the music progress bar is too close to the bottom of the screen and is partially covered by the iPad’s app changer bar. Swiping up to change to another app while listening results in the track resetting. It also makes moving through the track almost impossible. Disappointing that this issue has not been fixed in any of the recent updates. It’s not a problem on iPhone.

Missing features

MadAuntie on

United Kingdom

The search works well and sound quality seems good but you can only book mark a whole album not a single track, and there is no option to make a playlist.

I’m liking it

dharmalounge on

There is much to like about this service, especially if you want to dig deeper into classical music. The search function is ideally suited to classical music and this is the work of an independent UK company. An alternative to the enormous global companies that constitute the other options for classical music streaming. Competitively priced and as far as I can all the compositions that you could possibly wish for.Try their free trial and see for your self .

I have an extensive collection of CDs purchased from Presto which I can view and listen to via the website but they did not show up in the App. I had to DELETE the app and re-install it. I hope that wont be necessary every time there’s an update.
