Project VOID 2 Reviews

Truly one of a kind

This game is way different and it’s puzzles are awesome. It got me back into ciphers and gave me hours of entertainment. I wish there were more games like this that made me stretch my brain to figure out a puzzle. I wish it had 100 packages like how Hybronia said they would but 54 will suffice for such a great game. Well done!

it’s broken :/

As someone who’s always looking for mystery or puzzle games to play, usually with some sort of story attached to it, this was the perfect game for me. I have already played the first Project Void game and I can’t wait to see if another game like this will be made !! In my opinion this game is a great challenge for people looking for puzzles associated with ciphers or interactive ways to find solutions. I don’t think this was too difficult to be impassable, but they definitely aren’t too easy as well, as a high schooler. Anyways, amazing game with interesting storyline 👍👍

Audio Files Won’t Work

I really liked the game at first, and enjoyed the original too. I don’t know if this is a new bug or something but I can’t hear any of the audio files. At first I thought I had to change the frequency or something and when nothing worked I got a hint. It said to disable the low pass setting, however this did not work. My volume is fully up and functioning for every other app/site. I have an iPhone 11 if that helps. I like this game but it’s unplayable because of this.

Had potential

When I finished the first Project Void, my only complaint was that it was done too quickly. So I was excited to start this game, knowing what the developers are capable of. when the puzzles are on, they are spot on. But finding one that gave the excitement of solving that the original PV did, was only about one in five. In the first third or so of the game, I was stuck in a nearly endless loop: poor quality video, code, five letter password, rinse, repeat. Even the quest-giving NPC expressed impatience with it! I almost uninstalled the game at that point. Instead, I made it as far as Chapter 3 before uninstalling. We don’t play puzzle games for the story, true, but a consistent and engaging story is the backbone of any good mystery. The writing in this has the feel of being written by a high-school freshman: random for random’s sake, inexplicably melodramatic in parts, obnoxiously ret-conning for no reason at all, stilted dialogue, and with a flimsy sci-fi plot that doesn’t succeed in holding it all together. High school freshmen have potential as writers, but most have a long way to go before they’re publishable. The puzzles are the thing we’re in this for. Some are really expertly crafted and make you feel like a genius when you crack them. Some though, aren’t codes when they say they are (like the pencil one another reviewer mentioned) some have unnecessary red herrings thrown in (do we need a picture of the library door, for example?), some have inconsistent clues (is it 2 minutes or 5 minutes?), some have worthless or no hints. All in all, it felt like it was off to a good start, but the rest got rushed and forced out too soon. I got some enjoyment, but mostly annoyance, out of it.

Puzzles Too Vegue

This game is not fun. The first version of this game was great and was just challenging enough. This second version is too reaching with puzzles that are too vague and not fun at all. Don’t waste your time.

Good premise, but the difficulty is ludicrous.

The story of the game is pretty interesting in kind of a spooky way, but the integration of video is pretty frustrating as the video is much too choppy to be very helpful. Also the thought process behind some of the puzzles is less clever and more borderline-cheating. For example, there was one (which I’m currently stuck on) where you’re given a number sequence on a piece of paper. I asked for a hint and it turns out it’s not the number sequence at all, but the pencil the guy’s pantomiming letters with. There no indication that the answer has anything to do with the pencil, so I guess it’s just one of those things you try when you get desperate enough. But hopefully some kind of update will come out where the pieces fit together a bit better for puzzles like this one. Thank you!

Loved the first one, this one needs some ironing

I just started Chapter 2 tonight and there’s some issues I’ve run into while trying to navigate the app. The main problem is the browser function. The browser window seems to be way too big for my phone screen, and I can’t scroll at all to try and use the search bar. I also couldn’t zoom in on one of the pieces of evidence, not sure if it was just that piece or if that’s a universal lack of functionality. The other part I miss between the first and the second game is the notes function. The notes in the first game were so handy for decoding because I could transcribe the code and then usually copy and paste it into wherever I needed it in the browser. It’s a shame to see that function go, so I hope they bring it back. I’m writing all of this in hopes that the developers will read it and maybe make some changes to improve the game. I’d definitely be willing to change my rating if the game got some nice needed improvements. In its current state, its fun and not entirely unplayable, but definitely not as nicely self-contained as the first game. Still recommend the first one, and I imagine I’ll recommend the second one after those bug fixes. Edit: the developer was super responsive over email and was able to fix the bugs I was experiencing after I sent screenshots. Now I’m working thru puzzles again. Thank you for taking user feedback seriously! Definitely recommend playing this game and supporting the creators.
