Great tool

This app is a great tool for progress monitoring. The data collected makes progress notes and IEPs a breeze to update. My kids love anything on the iPad and I do not feel guilty giving them more screen time with Smarty Ears apps.

Great app for baseline and follow up data

I LOOOVE this app. I work at a school that is VERY rigorous with kindergarteners expected to read quite well before entering first grade. As we SLP's know, a lot of our articulation kiddos with phonological orders have difficulty with phonological awareness. The app is very easy to use and I love the counter that the kids can use to segment words. The results are easy to print and/or email to teachers. I try to give it to my kiddos three times during the school year. I love seeing their percentages increase over the course of the year! And, I've never given a copy to a teacher who didn't agree with the results. It would be even better if there were graphs for us more visual peeps :-)

Nice app!

Great app for beginning of the year evaluation.

I love this app the evaluate how a student has progressed from year to year. It allows me to quickly evaluate a students phonological awareness and then shows me visually with color coding how a student did in each sections. It allows to stop and start tests again, to skip sections and to only admonister the sections I want to give. I appreciate this tool and highly reccomend it.

Assessment reliability/validity

Okslp on

I really love this test. I have already tried it out and think it is so easy to give and I'm not juggling a score sheet and stimulus book. Your manual touches on reliability and validity at the very end but you never use those specific words. I'd like to see that added to the manual. This is a really well done test and I will be getting a lot of mileage from it!

Great Phono App!

This app is a great tool for assessing students' phonological awareness in a concise, easy-to-use package. Smarty ears has made it very easy to analyze the results by color-coding the subsections of the overall test so you can see exactly where a particular student needs extra work. Despite covering a fair amount of ground, the test is pretty quick to administer, and you always have the option to skip a section if it's not appropriate for that child. All in all, I highly recommend this app to anyone who works with kids who have (or are suspected to have) phonological deficits! Money well spent!

This app is great for assessing students phonological awareness. I have put in my caseload of students and have begun first rounds of testing . I love that it keeps track of scores so I will be able to assess before each grade card to track progress.

Very useful for monitoring

heatherspeech on

I work at an elementary school where phonological awareness skills are of high importance. This app is well-designed, easy to use, and provides a way to monitor progress for students in specific areas. I don't have to administer the entire thing, but can focus on a particular area. It is also quick to give the entire test, too. The manual is helpful for explaining, as well as providing guidelines for skills by grade level.
