Provoke Camera

Published by: Toshihiko Tambo

Description

Doesn't support iPads.
Developed in collaboration with Glyn Evans [the founder of iPhoneography], Provoke Camera was inspired by Japanese photographers of the late 1960’s like Daido Moriyama, Takuma Nakahira and Yutaka Takanashi.
Simple, elegant and easy to use, Provoke Camera does just one thing, produce black and white images with that gritty, grainy, blurry look reminiscent of the “Provoke” era of photography, and in two great formats; square format 126 and 35mm format 135.
Provoke Camera features 9 great black and white and 4 color live view effects, in 2 great film formats, 126 [1:1] and 135 [3:2]:
1. HPAN High Contrast
2. NPAN Normal
3. LPAN Low Contrast
4. X800 More High Contrast with more noise.
5. I800 IR like filter.
6. Z800 +2EV with more noise.
7. D100 Darken with Blur (4Pixel)
8. H100 High Contrast with Blur(4Pixel)
9. E100 +1.5EV with Blur(4Pixel)
10. Nofilter
11. 100 Old Color
12. 100U Vivid and Sharp
13. 160N Soft
In addition to capturing beautiful, gritty, grainy, contrasty black and white images, Provoke Camera will also allow you to import photos from your camera roll and apply any one of its “Provoke” effects.
And Support TIFF Uncompress image file.
Also support Photo Extension with iOS8 later. You can use Provoke Filter in Photos App.

This is a fantastic app. I have been trying to edit in these styles for some time but never been able to get my images the way I want it. Now I can. At last. Many many thanks. Would be even better to get it on iPad.

I love this app. It’s my go to camera for my work these days. Well worth investing in if you admire all things, “are, bure, boke”

Gorgeous app. Changing my photography.

A camera app that is actually good!

Stumbled across this gem by complete accident, i've tried all manner of camera apps over the years but this is by far the best, offering convincing photos with the chance to lay effects over pre-existing photos. Well worth the £1.99! I can recommend this to both amateurs & even professionals.

iPhone camera’s best kept secret

I honestly don’t know how this app has so few reviews. I stumbled across it and it has COMPLETELY changed the way I think of my iPhone as a camera. I shoot exclusively on film and only ever pull out the iPhone out of convenience. But whilst on a trip to LA I’ve basically found myself leaving my Mamiya behind on hikes because this app is that good. The emulations are accurate, the flash options extremely handy, and while the UI is a bit clunky and unresponsive, the results are outstanding. Absolute game-changer.

App doesn’t even go past the loading screen. I’ve asked for refund via Apple.

Update crashes on iPhone 7+.

5 star app. 1 star update. I’ve been enjoying this app for a long time and I think it’s brilliant. However, the latest update will not open on my iPhone 7 Plus. Please fix. Thanks. Update: it now works on my iPhone, even with no update. Strange but true!

I have paid twice for this app and it still will not work. I cannot find any way to get in touch with any support ?

B&W simple and fun

Excellent simple app that allows you to concentrate on composition. There are plenty of different filters to choose from. If you want to shoot mostly b&w without post processing then this app is great. My new default camera app.

If you're familiar with post war Japanese photography or heard of Daido Moriyama or seen the cult classic Solitude of the Ravens you know the dark edgy grainy, blurry out of focus look used by many of these photographers. Daido Moriyama along with others started a magazine called Provoke to feature this (at the time) new, cutting edge photography. Thus the name of this app. It's excellent and great fun for creating grainy high contrast images with different looks. Used with the right image (you can use it as a camera or apply its filters on images in your camera roll) your work can take on the look mentioned above.
