Hollow, contemptible, uninteresting.
Inferior to any of his previous works. (Even bard quest).

I’ve had this on my phone for a while now and decided to play it this afternoon. I couldn’t put it down. The story and soundtrack is just so interesting. The app is put together in a way that makes you question things and keeps you frustratingly on the edge of your seat. It’s an oddly complex story that sometimes seems like it doesn’t take itself seriously but there’s more to it than that. I’m glad I got a chance to finally experience this.
This story is beyond well done, beyond well written, with amazing music and art to go with it. I loved the main story, all the subplots, and all of the meta self-aware jokes within it. Hussie has outdone himself, and I am so glad I got to be here for such an amazing story. Thank you, Hussie and crew :)
I’m only done with chapter 1, but so far I’m impressed. These past two years have been so surreal and have led a lot of folks, myself included, to look back at the past and into themselves more deeply than ever before. Z is not okay. A lot of us are not okay. We’re fed up with our lives, with the status quo, with feeling drained and disillusioned. Psycholonials feels like a culmination of and rumination on all these feelings of sickness. Hussie’s down-to-earth writing style and lo-fi visuals lend the novel an interesting energy: it’s downbeat but not listless or hopeless. Deep lows precede breathtaking highs and vice versa. The music is also very very good. I look forward to seeing how this develops. (See update at end for final thoughts) I will say that this novel is probably best experienced knowing a bit about the creator or having read his other work. Hussie has been deeply wrapped up in internet culture for well over a decade now, and seeing him evolve as an artist and a public figure has been fascinating. I don’t intend to pry or make judgements of his character, but this seems to be his most personal and serious work to date. I won’t go as far as to say it’s “about” Hussie, but it’s definitely infused with his experiences as someone very famous and very online. It’s a unique perspective that many (especially former Homestucks) will appreciate. UPDATE: I honestly like this story a whole lot. No, it’s not perfect (parts of the ending are weak and the whole story is at its best when dealing with personal themes instead of political ones) but I still think it’s worth a read. Folks who have issues with reading morally grey protagonists and unreliable narrators (Z does a lot of awful things) will probably not enjoy it, though. Ultimately it’s a story about power, corruption, cycles of violence, a certain unhealthy mentality social media can help foster, and choice. I still wholeheartedly recommend giving this a read.
Ive read the first chapter, unsure if the writer doesn't know how to make a story or has something coming in later chapters that proves me wrong, but so far its been pretty draining and depressing. I don't understand why the introduction seemed to have no interest in grabbing the reader, but quite the opposite. A girl has a lot of problems that don't really seem to be "fixable", which the writer is good at making obvious, a female who is an outcast in society and has nothing to live for and no morals, which may be connected to her dream. She is basically a zombie, and at the end of the first chapter she ends up brutally killing a police officer for firing upon her, seems like the right thing to do, it was self defense, but it feels like a villain backstory. She seems to be the antagonist of her own story, a menace to the people around her and online. The game starts by saying "no minors" but I kinda feel like this was made by a minor, it feels like immature writing, but hey, like I said maybe there are connections and she changes for the better, but I don't know if I'm going to keep reading this depressing story unless I see some foreshadowing of that. But it is interesting enough to have me find out myself, so I give a star for that at least.
I love the art, story, everything, its amazing, but chapters 8 and 9, especially later in 8-9 when i save something then try to load it the screen is just black. I can hear the music but not see anything. Ive found some others having the same issue and talking about it on the psycholonials subreddit.

true to the brand incredible
Knowing Hussie’s previous work, I didn’t entirely know what exactly I was getting into when starting to play this, but I am loving the dark political comedy and just the visual novel in general. I cannot wait to see how it ends.
