This app was really helpful as it helped me to target what really triggers my unhealthy moments and thoughts-however it still could use some help. I think one of the predominant issues is that it’s only in one language, and the voiceover has an accent in that language. I think some people could easily be triggered hearing a certain language as it could reignite bad memories from visiting one country or a traumatic moment in which a specific language/dialect/accent was spoken. Personally, my ptsd stems somewhat from an incident where hearing an american accent really hurt me. I won’t go into how, but the audio-based meditation and exercises don’t really work solely because hearing that accent instead of my own really makes it hard to focus on doing what I’m supposed to do, and instead invites a lot of negativity and moments in my life that I’m currently trying my hardest to move on from. But it doesn’t help that I hear it so much so that I can’t move on. Except for that, I’d only ask that users have a chance to talk to someone-even if its just AI, as talking is such an important part of therapy for people with PTSD. Thank you :)
Although I’m not a veteran, this app is fantastic for managing & tracking my PTSD patterns. Only fault I’ve found in the ~3 years I’ve used this is that the app doesn’t allow you to properly change the time of reminders for assessments, and occasionally it will continue to remind you even after turning off the feature in the app. Otherwise, an actual life-saver.
A truly great app for PTSD although the exercises could be used for other anxiety disorders as well. This app has really helped me and the tools on it such as symptom tracking, having a safe song (really helps with flashbacks) and special photos to have to hand when the going gets tough helps to keep things a bit more positive. Recently updated also and pleasantly surprised with a new “feelings” exercise which helps with identifying emotions- good when overwhelmed. Big thank you to those who created this app. It has made a big difference.
It does not let you download the music on it as you are meant to be able to.
I didn't realise the app hadn't been reviewed by anyone suffering from PTSD. I have used this app since October 2011. It's been a life saver as still awaiting NHS treatment for my ilness. If you suffer from PTSD, for whatever reason, give this a try - you might not like every tip, but the ones you like will help you survive the symptoms. I have taken a star off because the Track Symptom History has not saved all my progress, so I can only show my GP the last 4months, instead of 9, which isn't as helpful. Be patient and try the app in the moments when you are losing it. I am thankful to have it, and it was free!
Can't think why this has not been reviewed. I work in neuropsychology and PTSD and I have recommended to everyone I know, pulled it out in therapy too. It's visually pleasing, evidence based and you can even listen to the information sections. For clients with access to the app I would recommend without reservation. Good assessment too.
Great apps it help me to heal from PTSD.
I use and recommend this to anyone experiencing any mental health issues.
I’m thankful for the app, however I still prefer in person settings.
