Description

Pure Piano is a professional, multi-sampled concert grand piano with a unique Morph Pad that allows you to explore a multitude of sounds ranging from mellow and intimate tones to surreal, cinematic textures.
Similar to an XY pad in its flat, tactile nature, the Morph Pad offers up nine different core timbres of the piano including percussive, cinematic, bright, and intimate, to name a few. The “pure” piano sits untouched at the heart and center of the space, surrounded by eight more presets for you to explore as you guide your finger seamlessly through the wide-ranging tonal palette of the piano. As you do so, the various timbres blend together allowing you to create your own sounds comprising combinations of neighboring presets for you to save and recall. It doesn’t stop there either. The Morph Pad is linked to the app’s inbuilt EQ, reverb, and delay and so operates as a macro control adding even more to the experience by way of ever-changing texture and atmosphere, all from just one single piano.
Pure Piano works as a standalone app or as an AUv3 plug-in within your DAW of choice, and extensive connectivity options allow you to connect to your keyboard controller with ease via USB, direct, or Bluetooth MIDI to experience the sound of a professional grand piano through your headphones or speakers. The app also supports direct connection to your Mac using Inter Device Audio (IDAM). This enables you to easily integrate Pure Piano into your desktop projects by sending MIDI and receiving audio with one single cable, as well as network MIDI and Inter-App Audio for triggering the piano from other apps that you might have installed.
Equipped with customizable reverb, EQ, and delay, sound creation becomes even more creative. Simply unlink any of the audio effects from the Morph Pad to dial in your own settings. Maybe you want to add a long reverb tail to add some extra atmosphere, tweak the EQ a little or add some delay to a particular sound. It’s up to you.
If all that isn’t enough, the app includes sympathetic resonance which you can adjust along with the pedal and key noise to taste, and there’s a host of flexible tuning options for when you need them. The stretched piano tuning is how a piano technician would tune the piano. The equal temperament tuning, on the other hand, is best for when layering Pure Piano with sounds like electric pianos, pads, or strings. Also provided is the ability to transpose the piano which comes in very useful if you are working with a vocalist who wants to sing in a different key!
Pure Piano is designed and developed by Hamburg-based e-instruments, renowned for their high-end digital recreations of acoustic instruments.

Pure Piano Reviews

A fun-to-play songwriter's piano!

Joey Coole on

Short and to the point: this piano (IMHO) is one of those inspiring instrument that, once you start to play it, it's so easy to just lose track of time. Thanks to that morphing thingamajig, at your fingertip you have a concert grand, a felt piano or a detuned blues piano. If you want to dig in, you have a real EQ and you can set your touch curve, depending on what MIDI controller you're using. I'd like to have a separate control for detuning, though, so I could make a beaten up felt piano, for example. Also, I didn't fall in love with the Reverse and Pad settings, but hey! some people could probably have a ball with them. An originally conceived, enjoyable piano with a great sound!

Great,

Really great sounding piano. I’ve tried several and this is the one for me. I’ve tried Ravenscroft, pianoteq, and Korg pro module. This one sounds the most natural to me.

Has Issues With Audio Tails Cutting Out

EthanGross on

United States

And this is why you don’t buy plugins. Everything has issues even the expensive ones. This particular engine has issues with audio tails cutting out seemingly at random times while playing. Not the same as letting off the sustain. Other than that the sound and behavior of the keys is fairly decent and better than garage band no doubt. But for the money, it should not have these problems. Running iphone13pro max.

Overrated and Overpriced

SuperPieruccio on

Classic Piano on Garage band sounds more crispy and harmonic than any possible configuration of Pure piano. A lot to play with … but if you are looking for a classic piano, you already have it in garage band.

One of the best sounding pianos for iOS

Qwertypoiu6hv on

Pretty decent piano for a MIDI keyboard. Morph pad is cool and great for tonal shaping for beginners. I wish there were different reverb engines. The plate like reverb is pretty good, but I would love to have a high cut control and a modulated reverb option. The reviews say the devs listen to their customers (thank you!) so I’ll keep my fingers crossed! There’s also an issue where it sounds like occasionally an octave is triggered by one note? It’s pretty rare and hard to recreate

Sounds great

Sounds great but…

I really like the realistic sound. I like being able to hear mechanical movement emulation. This makes it slightly better than Ravenc in my opinion. Unfortunately I don’t see a choice to enable it to continue in the background. This is a pain because I can’t just open another program that displays my music or lessons. I have to open a third party app such as a daw to keep the keyboard and sound going.

On-screen keyboard is too small

LordRavensclaw2012 on

United States

My fingers are too big for the on-screen keyboard. I wish this app had a way to zoom in as needed to emulate true size of piano keys. The screen controls take up the left and right side of the screen when this space can be used to increase the size of the keyboard. I mainly purchased this app as an alternative to try out some music while I am away from my keyboard, but I’m afraid that the keys are just to small for my hands and makes it hard to practice.

Pure and creatively impure

SlottedCalf on

United States

I have and enjoy both the Korg (with Ivory IAP) and Ravenscroft 275 which are both very, VERY good pianos for iOS. I just added Pure Piano to my iPhone and the basic (Pure) piano is itself superior in my ears to these other powerhouses. Alone it’s worth getting the app. Then the morphing capabilities on top of that are just stellar! I was able to create a specific version for one unique application and save it as a user version and can see doing this in 3 scenarios which I will do to serve 3 specific situations (stereo via Demer box, mono in Bose L1 situation and stereo in a pair of Bose L1s). I’ve had my eye on this app for a while and noticed in March (2022) it is on sale for 50% off! GET THIS NOW!!! You won’t be sorry!!! Wish I could give this 10 stars!
