We have noticed a pattern where scores input after the completion of the battery are not saving. I have tried a number of times to input a score for math fluency on the ktea. While it initially looks like it saves, it still remains an item on the “To Do” list, requiring it to be put in again. There’s no rhyme or reason when scores save after completion of the battery and when they don’t that I have discovered. Additionally, I was prompted to discontinue testing when rules for discontinuation (3 consecutive incorrect scores) had not been met. This was on a subtest on the KTEA. Help!
The app worked fine until the last update. I’ve had it freeze twice moving from the first WIAT subtest to the second, requiring a complete closure of the app. This has happened other times as well, not always after the same subtests. I had to exit a fluency subtest that let me display the test items to the student but grayed out the items so I couldn’t record the answers. I had to add the subtest to the end, which worked. Very frustrating when you’re testing kids with attention disorders.
I have had numerous connectivity issues the past few weeks. I do NOT have time to fight with my iPADS in order to evaluate students. It has just gotten ridiculous lately. Pearson, fix this mess.
I used the old Q-interactive assess app and this new one. Up until the most recent updates were released, I found that the app worked smoothly. It’s a great time saver when the app works. However, within the past couple of months (April-May) there are times where there have been connection issues and the student iPad suddenly goes to a blank screen including during timed tests. The examiner iPad at times will notify me that the iPads are connected and disconnected frequently, like every few seconds. Unfortunately, I have had to write, “The student’s scores may not be the best representation of the child’s ability because of technical issues,” or something to that effect in my reports. I hope that the IT team at Pearson can come up with a solution to these issues soon. I know that these issues started occurring when apple made changes that affected compatibility.
Breakdowns in communication between iPads, inexplicable blank screens, freezes during timed subtests, wonky editing glitches. Whatever shortcomings the first build had pale in comparison to the poorly tested, buggy mess they’re pushing out now.
It looks like I’ve been fortunate to have had a positive experience with the new Q-interactive app so far. Testing has worked exactly as expected, and the smoothness of writing notes has dramatically improved over the original version. One gripe I have is with the amount of space it requires (which has always been an issue). Especially if you’re using an iPad with only 32gb of storage, you might find everything to start moving very sluggishly, as the app can take up around 4gb once everything is downloaded and updated. It would be nice to be able to lighten the load by removing data for tests that you’ll never personally use.
I find it interesting that people are struggling with the app. I love the functionality of it and the ease of testing. There are ways to skip subtests without going through the entire test and pay for it, you just have to know the basics. I am also able to go back and change answers after the student is done testing. However, it is not easy to find and can be cumbersome to figure it out. One issue I am running into are glitches. When a student clicks an answer, sometimes the ipad does not respond. The feedback can be slow. Overall, its a good functional app but needs some improvement to fix the glitches and easier menu layout to change answers. I think psychs will need to be fairly tech savvy to use this app with ease.
Cannot even get this new app to open- have had continual issues recently with previous app and now I don’t even know if this new one is decent since it won’t open- it just loads and loads on the Pearson logo, but nothing ever happens and it is set to “practitioner,” not “client.” I’m sincerely considering returning to good ol fashion paper and pen.
In the WISC and KTEA I’m having to hit too many buttons to get to the notes, and then it glitches like crazy and doesn’t record everything I write. I have to write the same thing over and over to get it to record it. Also, lots of lag time between subtests. Also, the home button should take me back to the main screen of clients, not the student’s screen—That’s typically what “home” means. Also, when I sort on the main screen, if I click on ANYTHING, it unsorts it. I have to keep sorting every single time. It should remember my preference at least until I log out. Very annoying! This app has lots of bugs and was not ready to roll out. sometimes it doesn’t record the student’s response and I have to respond for them. Lots of bugs. Yesterday the apps wouldn’t connect after just being connected. Lots of bugs!
